Most Helpful Positive Review Super bright/fast sight acquisition
Terrific set of aftermarket sights. It's the first thing I do on a new pistol. My old eyes need that bigger front dot and these HDs satisfy that need. I have red fronts on other guns and decided to try the yellow this time. I have to say the yellow seems brighter and easier for me to pick up. Definitely recommend these sights.

Stock sights are better

by Matt, Verified Owner from MA, United States Written on October 10, 2025
Purchased for a Shield Plus Carry Comp and was extremely disappointed. The stock front sight was easily twice as bright as the Trijicon. The Trijicon tritium rear (which was the reason for the purchase, as the stock sight is plain black) was poorly machined, and the vials appeared to have visible adhesive around them. Unacceptable for the price.

Great sights

by Terry, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on December 9, 2020
Only issue I had was mine not coming with the Allen key to remove the heat screw for the rear sights. Other than that, everything was great. The front sight with yellow ring is easy to pick up, the tritium vial in the front and two in the rear are nice and bright as well making night acquisition just as easy as the daytime. Overall, would definitely recommend.
Pros:
  • reliable
  • Sturdy
  • Easy to aquire sight picture
Cons:
  • not all parts in the box

Terrific front dot

by Dave, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on May 3, 2018
First thing I do on any new handgun is add these Trijicon HDs. The front dot just jumps out for my aging eyes. First time I tried them I bought them for my Sig and as I was walking out of the shop after dropping it off and the gunsmith said, “hey Dave, this gun already has night sights” and I said yeah but they don’t do me any good if I can’t see the front sight. I’ve got a pretty good collection of extra fiber optic and little bitty dot night sights. I’ve grown to prefer the yellow front over the red now too.

Perfect fit

by Caroline Kacerik, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on April 12, 2018
I bought these night sites for my S & W Shield 9mm. I had a local gunsmith install them, not wanting to screw up my gun myself. I am delighted with these Trijicon sites. Fast sighting in on target and well worth the money. Optics Planet had the best price.

Concealed carry civilian

by Bill B., Verified Owner from IL, United States Written on July 9, 2017
Pull in a perfect zero light sight picture instantly, as easily as daylight. If you're over 40, even daylight sight acquisition is greatly enhanced. If you carry, you should have these tritium sights. Holster clearance as easy as with manufacturers iron sights. Installs cheaply. My gunsmith charged $20 and did the job including laser alignment, in 15 minutes, while I waited.

Great Sights

by KEVIN, from CA, United States Written on May 17, 2017
These sights are great on my M P Shield. I got the green over the orange, and I love them! Sticks out like a sore thumb and is easy to line up with the rear. Stock sights are a little harder to pick up, and obviously don't glow in the dark. I'm recommending them to everyone I know with a Shield. Pain to install, but thats not the sight's fault. I would get a sight removal tool to make it easier.

They are a little pricey but worth every penny.
Pros:
  • look good
  • snug fit
  • Solid - Quality Feels Tough
  • Target acquisition speed
Cons:
  • pricey but it is worth every penny

review of trijicon heavy duty night sights

by Andy Valdez, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on October 17, 2016
Really great sights. Front sight is highly visible and makes a great aid for target acquisition. I will be ordering more sights like this for other pistols I have. I highly recommend the sights for anyone, but especially for people of an "advanced" age. The high visibility of these sights is a great help for older shooters who have some difficulty in focusing on the front sight as a result of having to wear bi focals.

Trijicon HD sights

by Richard Martin, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on June 25, 2016
I ordered these sights for my S&W 9mm Shield. I'm 68 with cataracts in one eye.
These make all the difference in shooting a compact carry handgun. They were recommended to me by a local gunsmith, and he was right on the money, these are
wonderful night sights.

Trijicon HD sights are the bomb

by BigD, from AL, United States Written on July 7, 2015
Best sight out there for quick sight acquisition. The rear sight is essentially plain during daylight. Then, you have tritium 3 dot sights at night. The sight is well built and rugged. The rear "U" shape allows for quite a bit of room around the front sight. This is excellent for uick sight acquisition. These sights are not made for target or bulls eye shooting.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • pricey, but you get what you pay for
