Henry's Review of Trijicon ACOG 4x32 Scope w/ Chevron BAC Flattop Reticle & Flat Top Adapter

Before I begin, let me make this very clear: This scope is not meant for pinpoint precision. As the acronym (Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight) indicates, it is a combat optic. It is designed for hitting man-sized targets. Not that you can't be precise with it, but don't expect to drive tacks at 500 yards.

Now that I have gotten that out of the way, allow me to begin. If you have never held or looked through an ACOG in person, you will be amazed by two things: 1. The clarity of the glass - As someone who is not used to expensive glass, I couldn't believe how crystal clear the glass is when I first looked through it in comparison to my significantly Vortex Diamondback scope that I had been using previously. 2. How lightweight, yet incredibly well made and durable it feels - Once you get it in your hands, you'll be very impressed with the quality of the construction and how solid it feels. I feel confident that if I ran out of ammo, I could always use my ACOG as a weapon...

The other thing that will make an impression on you, however, is the very short eye-relief. To be frank, yes, it is as short as everyone says it is. That being said, over time you get used to it and really isn't that big of a deal. Which is to say, if the eye-relief is the only thing preventing you from buying the scope, buy the scope, you won't regret it!

First impressions aside, other aspects that I really like: 1. The illuminated reticle - No, it's not adjustable per se, but if you really have that much of issue with it, you can put tape over the fiberoptic rod in the sunlight or put a flashlight over it at night. As someone with a slight astigmatism, I find this reticle is incredibly crisp because it is etched into the glass. 2. The reticle itself - Again, it's a combat optic. The reticle is simple and the BDC is accurate enough. 3. Its small profile - It takes up little rail space and is not cumbersome whatsoever. 4. The BAC - No, 4x magnification is not ideal at 10 yards, but the Bindon Aiming Concept is effective to land chest shots within 25 yards. 5. Its aesthetics - I know this shouldn't be the main selling point (which it certainly isn't), but this scope looks awesome on an AR-15. I don't know of anyone who doesn't like the look of this optic.

Bottom line: This optic bears a legendary reputation for good reason. Although I haven't used it in combat and hope I never have to, in my opinion, it is hands down the best tool for the job. God forbid a SHTF scenario happens, but you can bet this optic will be on my rifle if it does. If you have the money and want the best of the best, you've found the right optic.

P.S. If you're hung up on the price, my recommendation is to wait and check the price frequently. When you see a good price, call up Optics Planet and ask them if they can do any better, they usually can. I got the limited edition Stars and Stripes version for 850 dollars shipped.
