doughntmatta's Review of Trijicon HD XR Night Sight Set
First: I own both HD and HD XR models. Both are Orange. Yellow, IMO, can be washed out by a well lit background. Lastly, I have not viewed any other brand of night sights so I cannot compare.
What I can say is that I like the HD XR model better. The post is noticeably thinner but the orange circle is still present enough to allow for quick acquisition of the front post. I like the XR because, as they say, you have a bit better field of view.
Regarding the tritium glow - I was advised Trijicon is some of the brightest on the market. I cannot speak to that but I have no issue seeing the glow even in decently lit environments and they are very sufficient in the dark/low light conditions.
I did have an issue with one of my night sight sets (installed by reputable local gunsmith). The tritium leaked/lost its glow and had to send in my slide to be looked at by Trijicon. The company provided an estimate of how long it would take and they responded/delivered within that timeframe. I had to pay to ship it to them but they shipped it back at no cost to me. It took about 3-4 weeks but their estimate was 2-4 once they were in possession. NOTE: this was pre-virus. It cost me $9 to ship, fyi.
I would recommend these sights, moreso the XR, to anyone needing some night sights.
