Most Helpful Positive Review Sig 556 replacement rail
This rail is a MUST for the sig 556. Easy to install, it replaces the factory plastic with a beautifully machined metal rail. Only thing is, you need to take the front sight off- so buy another one. Well worth it though.

Excellent product fit my sig 556r 2nd gen excellent. Had read some reviews about fitment issues but there were none on my rifle. Fit was nice and tight with no play or rattle. A great improvement over stock rail and now dont have to find sig front sight to fit dovetail

A solid rail that upholds the Troy Industries reputation

by KT, from NM, United States Written on March 3, 2015
This is an excellent rail for the SIG 556. It is certainly better than having to send your rifle to SIG to have a SIG factory rail installed. Although it makes for a very long rail, I like the fact that the top rail is a single piece extending all the way to the rear which insures that front and rear sights will absolutely lie on the same plane.
It should be noted that if you have a factory front sight you will not be able to use it with this rail as it covers the front dovetail. In fact, it comes with a dovetail insert with a threaded hole which secures the top rail portion at the front. If you have the SIG folding stock you will not be able to secure it to the rail as you would with the SIG factory plastic hand guard. These were non-issues for me as I chose to use a Troy folding sight on the front and replaced my factory stock with a side folding adapter for use with a T6 style stock.
This rail will allow you to remove the gas tube while leaving the rail in place. This is a welcome advantage.
The only minor issue I had to deal with was the tensioning screw which is at the front of the bottom rail. It may vary with each individual rifle, but when properly tensioned according to instructions, mine was left with the screw sticking out about an eighth of an inch below the rail. Because of this I had to make a slight modification to my bipod adapter by milling an indentation in it to accommodate the tensioning screw head. This was a only minor issue. It will add some weig...

Drop in replacement for the Sig 556R

by Pfurby, from CA, United States Written on February 8, 2015
I wanted a quad rail for my Sig 556R but was a little reluctant to try the Troy rail because of mixed online messages of its compatibility with the Sig 556R. Once I read the instructions, I was able to securely install it on the rifle within a half hour. It is stable and secure. Just the thing I was looking for.

Troy SIG 556 BattleRail

by Jim, from PA, United States Written on December 24, 2014
Great product. Was easy to install and fit as expected from a Troy product. It made the rifle more flexable with the added rails. I can now add a slanted forearm and a bipod. It is a good after market product to add to the SIG 556 rifle

Best SIG 556 Rail

by rob8448, from FL, United States Written on September 5, 2014
I have two Sig 556's. I was forced to use the more expensive Samson rail on one because it's a four hole model. That rail took a good deal of fitting in the front where the two sections of the rail join. I had to elongate the holes so that the top section did't bend downward causing the top of the rail to curve. If I had known how much better the Troy rail was, I would have altered the Sig to accept it. Two of the holes would have matched up so it wouldn't have been that bad.
The Troy rail I mounted on my 556R seems much stiffer, and it attached in minutes. I didn't have to apply heat to break the loctite, and I used the original screws on three of the holes. I can also remove the gas tube with the rail in place. You can't with the Samson rail.
I got a great price on the rail from Opticsplanet.com, and the free shipping really made it a bargain.
