MontesaVR's Review of Tru-Spec 24-7 Tactical Vest

Many of the reviews I've read on this vest talk about the enormous sizing. Because of that I decided to try a medium, even though I am 6' 4" tall and 230 lbs. I was surprised to find even at my size, the medium was large enough to wear over a sweatshirt. However, the first time I carried stuff, I realized that everything you put in the pockets makes the vest a little more snug. That's the price you pay for the sleek look, compared to something like a photographer's vest or fisherman's vest in which the pockets stick out all the time, even empty.

I suggest if you buy one of these, you load it with whatever you plan to carry, anything from your handgun and spare magazines to a paperback book and your lunch. Then check the fit, including sitting. See if the armholes ride up enough to irritate your armpits. If you want to use the vest to conceal an outside-the-waistband holster you'll need to ensure there's enough room at the hips to go over the gun without printing and enough length to hid the end of the barrel, even when you bend over.

It's a high quality garment and the look doesn't scream tactical vest, but just recognize that it's oversized for a reason. Ultimately you might want more than one size, depending on what you're wearing under and it and what you are carrying.
