Rgnbull74's Review of TruGlo TFX Pro Sight Set for Springfield XD

I actually DON'T recommend this particular sight, but I DO recommend the TruGlo TFX's.

Anywho, let's start off with the pros of these sights:

1) Installed as simply as you please. I drifted the old sights out with a punch, lightly oiled the channel, and drifted the front and rear sights in (being very careful to only impact the dovetail). Removal of old sights and installation of new sights: 10 minutes.
2) VERY bright in direct sunlight. I have night sights on all of my pistols and usually in daylight the sights are completely black with black dots, or possibly white dots. Wow, not these. BRIGHT green dots that really pop out against almost any background. Furthermore, the sights are geared towards fast acquisition of target and the front sight with a large "U" channel in the rear. Great set up.
3) VERY bright at night! Bright green glow that once again truly pops.
4) Fiber optic piece is completely sealed in a sapphire case. Removes the drawbacks of the original TFO's.
5) Very tough.
6) Angled ledge for one handed manipulation of slide. It will engage readily with your belt.

Now to the few cons:

1) Don't get the TFX pros. I'm sorry I just can't see justification of $25 for the extra "RED" ring. In direct sunlight it is drowned out by the green fiber optics. The only time I could see the red ring was when I was looking down at the gun from a 20 degree angle or more. I have read reports that many people love the red ring. However, I couldn't see it at all. YMMV.
2) What I wouldn't give for the front sight to have red, orange, or yellow fiber optic. I am sure there is a reason they have not done so (low light transmission from the tritium?), but that would be amazing. Would also negate the need for the very ineffective red ring.

In my humble opinion, get the TruGlo TFX's and save the $25 or so over the pros. But you won't find a brighter daytime sight with night sight capability.

Hope this helps.
