I am the type thats very rough on my guns. For the outrageous priced we pay for them and the accessories, I believe they should be able to take punishment, especially items used to defend your life. Any manufacturer worth its salt has lifetime warranty and there are a lot of them out there that do. That's how you can tell it's probably a decent item. With all that said I have been racking my glock g47 using the red dot optic. To avoid fingerprints on the glass, I will literally rack the gun by pushing the red dot against a table or belt buckle. A few scratches is no big deal as long as it holds zero. The true north racker has made it so much easier. It now takes the brunt and saves my red dot from being banged on miscellaneous metal or sharp edged surfaces. The only thing I would reccomend is that you put it on a very stiff belt so the racker doesn't sway in or out as you rack it. With enough practice you will find the sweet spot anyway. So nice I bought it twice.
