fundrobocop's Review of True Precision M/P Shield 9mm Luger Threaded Pistol Barrel
The new barrel looked good and was easy enough to install into the Shield Plus. Prior to break-in, it caused the slide to lock to the rear almost every time I charged the pistol.
On range day, it took every bit of 200 rounds (which is the recommended break-in count from what I've read online) to break-in and now it runs pretty smoothly but I probably still need to put another 50+ rounds through it before it cycles really smoothly. Note, I had no failures to feed or cycle when shooting unsuppressed. The slide only locked to the rear on its own accord when I cycled the action by hand.
Shooting suppressed, I had to hand cycle each round of Remington 147gr (I only fired a few magazines of 147gr). I threaded directly to the barrel, so a recoil booster or nielsen device may improve performance.
The barrel shot at-least as accurate as the factory S&W barrel.
My issue is that after 200 rounds, the barrel had a lot of wear on its finish. I purchased the copper colored barrel, and I can't understand why they even make colored variants when the finish just rubs off during the break-in firing period. I tend to run my guns a bit wet so friction points are oiled, but still a lot of the copper color wore off within 200 rounds, leaving a stainless steel/copper mixed pattern. Just go with blued or stainless finish if the color is gonna be half-assed.
