Most Helpful Positive Review Not Bad
I bought the 2X version of this guy this year. Easy to put on. I got it for my shotgun. There is a learning curve. You have to train yourself to keep the reticle in the middle of the lens so minimize refraction. I've measured it and this scope will be about 4 inches off at 60 yards if you do...

Most Helpful Negative Review Broken
I put this on my 12g Mossberg 500 to use for 2.75" slugs. The glass in the scope broke after shooting 10 shots while sight it in. Also the dot ended up way to the right. Bottom line...it can't stand up to heavy rounds. Pros: Cool Toy for Light Recoil Guns Cons: Broke Trying to Sight It

Works great on a kids rifle

by BuddysDad, from VA, United States Written on June 6, 2021
I bought one of these for my son when he was 7 years old and installed it on a Savage Rascal 22 rifle. He is 13 years old now and has shot about 1,500 to 2,000 rounds with it and it has held up well and never lost zero. So I would recommend this item on 22's. It was far easier for him to understand than the peep sights.

Not for Super Magnum 3.5 shotguns!

by Big B, from GA, United States Written on February 28, 2016
Sight was zeroed with 3 inch magnum turkey loads then tried to pattern 2 of the 3.5 Longbeard XR shells. First moved the recticle to the top left. Second shot made the sight fail completely! Changed the battery but still dead. Very very disappointed!!!

Save Your $ for something Better

by kilroy, from VA, United States Written on November 23, 2014
Purchased last winter for a 12g. Did not get a chance to test it until this season, which means its too late to return. The thing is Horrible. Line it up, pull the trigger, the Dot is pointing elsewhere. The larger the shell, the farther the Dot moves. Figured out immediately to take the lens protectors off otherwise they will remove themselves. Found it a pain to sight the Dot, also. You get what you pay for I guess. May be of use on a weapon with much less recoil, maybe even a hand gun. Definitely of no use on a 12g w/ 2 3/4" shot and for goodness sakes not 3" shot - and neither loads used were magnum loads...I had sense enough to remove this thing before using magnum. If the Dot wouldn't jump on you, it would be great to use once you have it dialed in.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • DOESN'T HOLD ZERO
  • doesn't hold up to a shotgun

Good Scope for Price Point

by Legacy Reviewer, from PA, United States Written on February 28, 2013
This is a very good product for the price. The dot is quite bright, it is easy to set up, windage and elevation are easy to adjust. I cannot speak about durability because it wasn't used long enough, but all seems quite solid. I needed a smaller and lighter scope for my 22 target pistol which had a smaller dot for targets. Paid 4x as much. If I were a hunter this Tru Glo woold be just fine.
Pros: Easy to SetUp; Good adjustability Dot Brightness
Cons: Big and heavy

It works.

Works fine. Usefulness is dependent on the application. I have it on a pellet gun and it works ok.

Expected More from Tru Glo

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on November 18, 2010
Purchased this optic for my daughter's 20ga, 1187 youth gun. I hope I just ran in to a poor sight, but it continuously shot high at 50 yds, regardless of adjustment. Concluded that the dot was floating and I am returning this sight in hopes that I just ran across a lame duck...
Pros: Simple to Use
Cons: Extremely difficult time zeroing this Optic
