J. WyldeAR's Review of TRYBE Defense AR-15 .223 Wylde Upper Receiver
I ordered this for a build I hope to complete next month. Not a bad price. First Trybe product I have purchased. A few dings and scratches out of the box, minimal, but still there. A few things I noticed:
1. The upper receiver won't drop completely into my lower receiver so I will either have to drill/mill out the rear channel on the lower receiver or return this upper assembly. I wouldn't want to shave down or shape the upper receiver to allow it to slide in because I think it would sacrifice the integrity of the upper receiver. I can't even tell if the pre drilled hole will line up in my lower receiver (I hope this makes sense). I suppose it could be an issue with the lower receiver I purchased from Daytona Tactical. However, the rear channel was already pre-drilled to Mil-Spec.
2. The BCG is, 'you get what you pay for' quality. It looks like I may have to finish staking one of the gas key screws if I want to use it for any length of time. Not surprised as this can happen with cheaper bolt carriers.
3. The barrel/chamber came with some scarring.
Overall, It doesn't seem like they were careful when building this. I will try to update this if I decide to complete my build with this. If I can get it to fit, it will probably work and cycle just fine (for awhile). Give it a try but if you are picky, you may not like this. If you are in a hurry you may not want to get this in case you have to make a return.
