I wanted to use the trybe ultra light handgaurd. So when shopping for a upper for the build I thought surely I wouldn't have fitment issues using the same brand upper...But no. Mind you, I am a marine technician for a living and turn nuts and bolts daily for a living. Forget the fact that I've been building rifles for years. Nut wouldn't thread with or without barrel installed .Threads on the barrel nut look fine but the threads on the upper were boogered. Likely from the poor packaging as it came in a plastic bag with no padding.

I ordered two of these for a couple budget builds. One did not come in. The order got screwed up for whatever reason. I used the chat function to address the issue and had a refund issued quickly. I'm very pleased with the customer service. For the one that did arrive, the fit and finish is nice, and it locked into an Aero Precision lower with no wiggle at all. Excellent machine work. Trybe seems like a good value manufacturer and Optics Planet is the way to go. Thanks.

Ordered 2 of these uppers and both of them had multiple burrs inside and out. One even had an obstruction in the forward assist roll pin hole. I cleared the metal blocking the hole and attempted to install the forward assist but the roll pin bent. I've built multiple rifles and have never had this happen before so I'm assuming the hole is out of spec. Definitely do not recommend. Pay a little extra and get a Aero upper.

All specs and finishes have been met on the couple I've ordered. Run with no problem on some lower priced builds. Fitments have been fine with various handles, carriers, barrels and all. Haven't had a bad one personally, so would buy more.

After waiting almost two weeks I was looking forward to receiving my Trybe upper receiver. Once I received it, I wasn’t impressed. Although, it was fairly inexpensive. The coating appeared uneven and what really disappointed me was the engraved Eagle Trybe sign that they described in the description was no where to be found on the upper receiver. So how do I even know that this is a Trybe upper receiver? I don’t. Another thing I noticed was when it was attached to the lower receiver, there was a gap between the upper and lower receiver allowing me to see light through the other side. I will probably try it out once the AR is assembled and most likely replace the upper with a higher end upper receiver. Overall, you get what you pay for. If you’re looking for a budget build, this is it for you. If you’re looking for a more solid build, look somewhere else or make sure you get the same brand for the upper and lower receiver. I wanted to try something different and tried to do a mid grade build to see what the difference was and now I know.
Cons:
- Improper fit
- No trademark
- Uneven coating

These uppers look to be good quality, have used a few other lesser known brands of uppers in builds and have not been disappointed. Looking forward to using the ones just purchased with the same results.

Terrible machine work. All bcg and charging handles rub so much they catch on the receiver and do not slide smoothly at all. Needs more tlc to slide smoothly. I drenched it in clp and does not help at all. Spend the $10-20 more and get a better brand that cares about their products.

Absolutely horrible anodizing. Looks almost purple. Do not buy. My goodness. The upper was in spec I guess, but it looks completely off when paired with a decently anodized lower. The only thing I liked was the dust cover retaining pin. Neat idea that bypasses a c clip. Threw the actual dust cover in the trash because it’s tacky.

I bought this for a .458 build. I like the caliber specific dust cover, nice bonus. Overall the upper is nicely milled and finished. Finish is very even and no rough spots or burrs to be found. Fits the PSA lower I bought for this build very well, much tighter fit than I expected. Very little, and I mean almost no light visible between the upper and the lower. Very happy with it so far. The only thing that might bother some people is that the finish is a little more "matte" than my lower, both are hard anodized. This doesn't bother me but I know some people might be bothered by the difference. Will update my review after I get the BCG and barrel installed.
Cons:
- If it bothers you - finish may not match some lowers

I found a nice gouge in the threads right out of the package and a scratch down the left side, these issues will not stop it from working but they're there. This does not have a logo on the top as pictured. It mated up perfectly with an Aero lower and an Anderson lower, I have to give them that, the fitment is excellent. If I could rate them on fitment, they'd get 5 stars, unfortunately the finish quality isn't great and there is damage I can only assume happened at the factory. I will use this upper since it's a budget build and it is functional but I've never purchased an upper in this price range; with this kind of damage, but; I've also never spent $50 and had one fit so well. My barrel also slid in snug, the machining is very good for the price, IMHO, it's the only reason I am not returning it.
