QuickDrawMcGraw's Review of TRYBE Defense Complete & Enhanced Billet AR Armorer's Wrench

As shown in the picture, it appears to be a very nice & pretty AR tool. When I received it, it looked the same in my hand as in the picture. It even felt like a good quality tool with sufficient weight to it to suggest a great addition to my work bench. Then I made the attempt to use it for the primary purpose for which I purchased it. To tighten the barrel nut on one of my AR builds. I began tightening the barrel nut & at first it seemed like a very solid tool I would use over & over. Then I got to the point of putting my 1/2” drive torque wrench into the square torquing hole & incrementally working my way towards the target of 50 ft. lbs. of torque. Worked well @ 40 ft. lbs. But when I tried to apply the next increment of 50 ft, lbs., the mouth of the wrench began to flex in an opening fashion & started to slip on the flats of the barrel nut. It simply would not hold its shape to achieve the 50 ft. lbs, torque setting. I did not attempt using any of the other functions the wrench was made for. The failure on the barrel nut was verdict enough for me to warrant returning it to OP for a refund. I hated the outcome because I really had high hopes this would be the tool I would be using multiple times. But it wasn’t meant to be, I suppose. Anyway, all I had to do was contact Optics Planet & they graciously supplied me with a UPS merchandise return label to ship it back. I’m not a metallurgist. So I don’t know what needs to be done in the manufacturing process to eliminate this problem with the weakness of this wrench. But corrections are in order for this tool to be anything other than just another pretty face laying on one’s work bench. Thanks OP for working with me to help facillitate the return of this wrench.
