I bought this rail for a budget lightweight build as a cheaper alternative to the carbon fiber rails out there and was excited by the advertised weight. The 12 inch handguard real weight is 5.7 ounces not the advertised 4.86. When you include the barrel nut the total weight is 9.5 ounces which albeit is lower than aluminum handguards makes the weight savings vs durability reduction in moving to a softer metal much more of a dubious decision.
