PstCntrl's Review of TRYBE Defense Mil-Spec AR-15 .223/5.56/.300 AAC Complete Bolt Carrier Group (BCG) BCG

I wanted a spare BCG for my budget Diamondback DB15, a basic one. This one appears to be about the same quality as stock. I put 120 rounds through it just to test function, basic 55gr FMJ from several makes. No issues, except 1 or 2 FTF, which might be the mags, ammo or the parts just breaking in. I had the same 1 or 2 FTF on another BCG of similar quality that I tested. No scratches on the face of the buffer, everything fits nicely, no sharp edges or burrs, or apparent tool marks, bolt is tight in the carrier as it should be. Extractor has the little rubber donut washer on the spring.
Having spare small parts is nice, but having a spare full BCG is even nicer. Great to grab on sale or with a coupon.

P.S. Clean and oil it before using. The grease that comes on it is not a lubricant, it's a metal preservative, like on most guns. Which seems weird on stainless and coated modern parts (nitride, boron, melonite, etc.), there's just no need for it.
Pros:
  • Seems well made
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • a spare/backup or economy tool
