Solid alternative
I was looking to buy another pair of the Vertx Defiance jeans but they were out of stock with a considerable wait time so I decided to try the Trybe jeans. The Trybe jeans were in stock, a little less expensive, and offered the same features.
Very similar pocket layout which i really like. The yoke pockets are useful in everyday life because anything you put in them doesnt get sat on like the back pockets and doesn't print/poke like it can in the front pockets. Also useful on the range, at training classes, or at uspsa matches to carry spares magazines or as a dump pouch for empties.
The fit is "slim" but it isn't a super tight fit like some brands have. The material has some give/flex which helps at the waistline (i would order your normal size, don't size up for conceal carry) and also helps with overall movement/mobility.
I wish that they offered a lightweight model for summer. Definitely wash them before wearing.

Great tactical jeans & not too "slim".
Bought a pair of these in regular fit & liked 'em so much I decided to try a pair in slim fit.
First off, they're not painted-on slim, which was what I was afraid of when I ordered them. No offense to hipsters, but that's definitely not the look for this 40-something guy. They fit more snugly than the regulars, but not to the point where they're restrictive.
The stretchy denim is comfortable when you're moving around, so I wore them out in the woods here in Idaho where I don't like baggier pants due to the snag factor. Never felt like they were holding me back in any of my movements, taking ...

Comfortable and Well-Designed
These are outstanding tactical jeans that in no way look "tactical." The material is flexible enough that even in a slim fit, they're comfortable and don't restrict movement anyway. And probably the single best thing about them to me are the two upper back pockets. They're perfect for a phone, wallet, or spare mags, and unlike your main back pockets, you're not sitting on whatever you put in them. Highly recommend.

Nice Jeans but not Slim
These are nice jeans but do not fit like any other slim jeans that I own. They are comfortable and seem well made but are extremely loose fitting and baggy. They will work for wearing to work but not much else.

Great for EDC
I was a bit afraid of "slim fit" tag while ordering those, but they're incredible!
Comfy, neatly tailored, neither too baggy nor skintight. The fabric stretches, but not too much, and overall keeps a pretty good look.
The pockets on the waist are also surprisingly useful and well-placed for everyday needs.

I was looking for a pair of jeans that I can use every day, that will be comfortable, not too hot, not heavy, and not overly expensive. I saw the TRYBE jeans at Optics Planet, and the first thing that I noticed is how affordable they were, so I ordered a pair to see how they feel.
oh boy, what a pleasant surprise!
The jeans are perfect in terms of how heavy and thick they feel. it is not "too thick" to the point of making them bulky and heavy and too hot to wear, and they are not too thin to feel uncomfortable or cold if you wear them at cooler or windy weather conditions.
In terms of comfort, I give the jeans 10/10. they are stretchy and comfortable and actually alow a very nice range of motion, without feeling like your pants might rip, regardless if you jump, kick, bend over, or squat while wearing them.
Another big plus in my book, is that this pair of jeans didn't lose color after months of washers, nor did it leave a bit of paint / color on my skin after the first couple of wears, as some other brand jeans do.
last but not least, I have to say that the location of the concealed pockets is perfect. if you are like me, and you carry your phone and EDC tools (or extra mags) in the back pockets of your jeans, only to sit down in their car or other seats, and realize they have to reach out in a very uncomfortable manner to get to the pocket and clear it up so that you can sit in comfort, then this pair of jeans is for you! these pockets are amazing. they are added in a ...
