Stevey GB's Review of TRYBE Tactical Universal Holster w/ Paddle and Belt Clip

This is my bedside holster. It currently holds a Glock 17 Gen 5 MOS in FDE with a Holosun 509T optic. I keep it with the paddle attachment installed, as I find it fast and secure to remove the holster from my lockbox with the loaded pistol in it and slip the paddle into hastily pulled-on jeans in the dead of night. A paddle holster is easy to slide into a waistband with practice, and it’s faster than threading a belt through a holster, though not as secure. I would not recommend wearing a paddle holster without a belt, though.
This holster fits many of my guns. For instance, it locks in my G19 with its shorter barrel, as well as my full-size G17 with the added length of a full-size compensator. The open end of the holster allows longer barrels and compensators to protrude without interference. I’ve used it with my Sig 226 and my Canik as well as my cocked and locked 5” 1911 too. How it fits so many models is kind of mystical, but it does. It is adjustable but seems to eat everything well.
BLACKHAWK Serpa holsters and similar designs have caused concern by some because of the positioning of the unlock lever being in line with the trigger/trigger finger. This is thought to increase the likelihood of a negligent discharge during fast draws under stress. This TRYBE holster does not suffer from this issue, since the unlock lever is positioned higher where your finger would sit on the frame of your pistol upon draw, rather than the trigger guard. It’s an undeniably safer system due to finger positioning.
My pistols with optics have cowitness height sights, and the holster is relieved so that even the tallest suppressor-height front sight has clearance. This holster will not interfere with high front sights upon draw.
The belt attachment is adjustable for belt widths, and the holster itself is easily adjustable for a solid fit for a wide variety of guns. The belt attachment has a lock, so you don’t actually have to thread your belt through it, you can release the two locking tabs and install the belt mechanism over your belt and lock it, also.
TRYBE Universal Holster is well-made of some kind of tough polymer and has a finish better than most in the price range, with insignificant seam lines and a shiny interior. Adjustment for cant is via single hey bolt holding together two circles of teeth that lock together the holster with your choice of paddle or belt attachment that comes with, or the optional molle attachment. This design of the wheel of the locking teeth also interchanges with other holster manufacturers’ teeth design. I’ve swapped holster parts from different manufacturers before to fit my needs. I like the comfortable paddle and the locking belt tabs that prevent the holster from being pulled out with the gun.
I feel better when my holsters have some kind of locking mechanism and feel this lock would certainly help prevent the loss of my gun during an altercation. All my pistols stayed secure despite forceful attempts to remove them without unlocking it. The lock itself is large enough so muscle memory places your finger automatically on the unlock lever, which is textured and long enough to ensure placement from most finger lengths.
It’s not the fastest holster, but I love the security that a lock gives. I like the versatility too, as I can use this single holster with several guns on a range trip. Get to know it and it’s plenty fast.
I have another one of these holsters on my plate carrier. I use the molle attachment to position it at center-ready around my other gear. Again, the security of a lock to prevent spillage and unauthorized use, and the versatility to accept a wide variety of pistols are ideal attributes and fit the needs I have. Excellent value
