I am a new CCW holder. I had no experience carrying a concealed weapon. The county I live in had never issued CCWs except in exchange for a political donation to the sheriff. There was therefore few citizens with actual concealed carry experience. Those that taught the required training classes, were either too opinionated or had no opinion at all as to what the "best" IWB holster was. I did a lot of reading on the internet and could see that the two general styles for IWB holsters were hard(and large) or soft(and small). The prices for Uncle Mike's IWB holsters were reasonable enough that I thought for $15, I would experiment. I bought both the 76151 (with retention strap) and the 89151 (without retention strap). I carried using the 76151 for a few weeks and decided to try the 89151. I favored the non-strap model. My carry gun fit OK, but since it is an older gun, the application guide had not been very helpful. I decided to try the "other" model that should also fit my gun. I bought a 76161 w/strap and a 89161 w/o/strap.
Examination of the size 15 and size 16 models revealed a "minor" pouch size difference that I could not see how it could make any difference in comfort or access. But it did, so I wore both the 76161 and the 89161 for a while and concluded the 89161 was best for my.
