This marlin extension hammer is a must have accessory if you use a scope.....easy to install with the tools provided in the package.....the one i purchased was for the newer model Marlin lever action....make sure you get the right one,,,,,one model extension hammer is for the older Marlin lever actions and it will not work on the newer one...be sure and pick the right one

This item really helps with a scope mounted to my Marlin 336W. It is strong and well built. I like that I can install it for right or left handed use. Easy to install remove. Need to make sure your Marlin was built 1987 and newer for this hammer extension to work on the hammer.

Easy to install extension. I find the round knurled barrel of the thumb contact point to be more comfortable and easier to manipulate than the other flat ones that are out there. Just make sure you order the right model to ensure proper fit.

DOES NOT FIT 336CS 1985. HAMMER IS LARGER THAN EXT.. BELIEVE EXT. TO BE FOR EARLIER MODEL BUT NOT SURE CHECK WITH TECH SUPPORT BEFORE ORDERING. WILL BUY FROM OPTICSPLANET.COM AGAIN

This hammer extension is perfect for those hunters who would like to mount the scope low on a Marlin 336 rifle. Without this item, a shooter cannot operate the hammer manually unless the scope is mounted very high. The texture of the extension is rough and grips your thumb very well. This item is very functional.

Just be sure you order the correct one for your rifle. Older Marlin rifles had a more narrow exposed hammer than the newer ones.

You don't find out until you open a sealed container that it is NOT to be used on Winchester Model 94's with hammers that are fluted or knurled even though all ads say you can. ALL 94's for the past 100+ years are made this way!! Bushnell, the distributor, does NOT get back to you even after 3 phone calls. Dangerous to use in my opinion.

Basically. Other Hammer Extensions work much better on the model 94 if you have a scope on it.

They are simply machined to inexact tolerances and are ill fitted. Since the Model 94 has a "Drill thru" hole on their hammers...this is the proper spot for mounting one of these, one that GOES THRU THE HOLE for safety and tightness. These Hammer Extensions have a allen nut on the extension side only that you tighten down against the hammer.

Very poor design and actually not all that safe. Find a "drill thru tye that fits right thru the Hammer hole...and you will be much happier and safer!
Pros: It should be a safetey and comfort issue with a lever action Model 94.
Cons: They don't fit the hammers all that well, and if you have a scope, you must be VERY VERY careful on the use of these. I had to remove mine because it brushes the scope and it is easy to slip off your thumb because of the poor fit.
