Fit and finish are good. Sharp enough to pass the paper test ie. Very sharp. I purchased the sword for it's aesthetics not for combat. However, I think it would be a most effective weapon. Unfortunately, I can testify to the swords long term durability. It's advertised as Damascus steel but: 1. The true recipe for Damascus steel has been loss to time. 2. From what I've read, modern methods of manufacturing steel yield a stronger more durable product than true Damascus steel.
