JosephFix's Review of Unity Tactical AXON SL Single Lead Surefire Remote Switch

Clicky constant-on light switches might be the bane of my existence at this point. I do not understand people's desire for constant-ON with regard to tactical weapon lights -or handhelds for that matter. I suppose it's nice to have if you really needed it (although I really can't think of an example). I would advocate for it if switches were designed to require a deliberate, deeper pressure in the center of the button using the tip of the thumb in order to click.

This AXN poly is WAY to easy to accidentally click ON. And the aluminum version is the same way. I was really pist for the first few days but I kept working with it. If I plant my thumb on the edge of the button with half the thumb on the frame, it seems to be OK. It's just so unnecessary and aggravating to have to deliberately find that sweet spot within the context of tactical training.

And for crissake can manufacturers stop making these things with footlong wires? The AXN required an FCD XL PCM to cover the cable... That's 3 full panels of M-lok, and it's doubled up under there! I want to like this switch because of the ergonomic improvements over Modlite flat button. (Modlites are awful BTW with the flickering and bad ergo). 3.5 stars would be more accurate but I will grade on a curve until Surefire gets serious about making a pressure switch themselves that isn't completely awful. This review is too long already... Don't get me started.
Pros:
  • Angle
  • Ergonomics
Cons:
  • wire is 6" longer than it needs to be
  • Clicks ON way to easily
Best Used for:
  • Replacing Modlite buttons
Would Recommend: Yes
