Review for
CMMG, Inc AR15 Pin, Roll, Bolt Catch
Great value and a great price. I buy lots of these because professional standards dictates you should not reuse a roll pin. Get lots of them and replace every time you remove one. Optics Planet is the go-to!

Review for
Trijicon RMR HD 1x Reflex Red Dot Sights
It does everything a red dot should do, with options for everyone. This is my second one and I regret nothing. Yes, it's expensive, but buy once, cry once is the way. RMR HD is the king.

Arisaka Defense M-LOK Indexers
Arisaka specializes in hardened, simple accessories. This indexer is something that will outlast my barrel.

BCM is solid

I prefer the BCM QD because the button is recessed which prevents accidental release.

Clever for the sake of clever... but this product is useless.

Review for
Otis Technology Star Chamber Cleaning Tool
This product makes ZERO sense, except to separate AR users from their money, which is more than a cottage industry at this point. A "steel scraper" is not something you want to insert into the barrel extension... but don't worry if you already have because it doesn't fit snug enough to do anything. The soft pads are an interesting concept, but they just spin on the axis of the part that attaches it to the rod, so there's no resistance and no effect. A pack of replacement pads are priced similar to a box of 5.56 ammo. I use the handle to attach a dedicated chamber brush so I don't have to swap out attachments with my bore rod, other than that, this is just another 'miracle' gimmick that doesn't hold a candle to cotton swabs and a chamber mop.

Zee Rings are a great value without throwing money away. These rings are simple and fast to install, and feel well built.

A great value, no nonsense.

Vortex has a versatile line of scopes that allow you to spend what you want. The Crossfire is on the cheaper end of the spectrum but this scop is not "cheap" at all. Glass looks great and the turrets move pretty good. At $180 I have no complaints.

Solid and Simple.

It is very easy to install and is totally solid. I would recommend the Switchview over 3D printer poly models. This item is sturdy and is a must-have for the LPVO.

Review for
XTS AR-15 Roll Pin Punch Starter Set
These look a bit crude and are shorter than I expected (2.75"). They are unmarked but easy to arrange by size just be looking at them. The best part about this collection is it has the 4 sizes to start roll pins for just about everything on an AR-15, including ejector retainer, bolt catch retaining pin, gas tube retaining pin, forward assist pawl pin, forward assist retaining pin, charging handle latch pin, and trigger guard pivot pin.

You think you want constant ON, but you don't. BAN CLICK SWITCHES NOW!
Written on May 13, 2024
Clicky constant-on light switches might be the bane of my existence at this point. I do not understand people's desire for constant-ON with regard to tactical weapon lights -or handhelds for that matter. I suppose it's nice to have if you really needed it (although I really can't think of an example). I would advocate for it if switches were designed to require a deliberate, deeper pressure in the center of the button using the tip of the thumb in order to click.
This AXN poly is WAY to easy to accidentally click ON. And the aluminum version is the same way. I was really pist for the first few days but I kept working with it. If I plant my thumb on the edge of the button with half the thumb on the frame, it seems to be OK. It's just so unnecessary and aggravating to have to deliberately find that sweet spot within the context of tactical training.
And for crissake can manufacturers stop making these things with footlong wires? The AXN required an FCD XL PCM to cover the cable... That's 3 full panels of M-lok, and it's doubled up under there! I want to like this switch because of the ergonomic improvements over Modlite flat button. (Modlites are awful BTW with the flickering and bad ergo). 3.5 stars would be more accurate but I will grade on a curve until Surefire gets serious about making a pressure switch themselves that isn't completely awful. This review is too long already... Don't get me started.
