RP45's Review of UTG Pro New Gen Dovetail to Picatinny/ Weaver Adaptor Mount

This mount adapter fits the Winchester Ranger .22LR lever action rifle with aluminum receiver "tip-off rings" mount grooves. The mount is packed loosely in the package. You have to adjust the mount contact sides to be slightly larger than receiver grooves to allow sliding on to both receiver grooves with minimal side play and free back and forth motion. Adjust screws very lightly to do this.

When in final position, slightly tighten screws to eliminate side play and back and forth motion. Now you can get ready to install scope rings, telescopic sight or red dot sight.

The UTG website lists 15 in/lbs screw torque maximum for the mount screws. This is for steel receiver grooves. Aluminum grooves, like those on the Winchester Ranger .22LR lever action rifle, will require somewhat less screw torque to prevent mount screws from damaging the aluminum receiver grooves. The Allen keys in the package will not work for this job. You will need an adjustable torque wrench. If you have one, good. If not, you may need a gunsmith for this job who has one.

This is an annoying shortcoming for the mount package. No printed instructions included either.

The mount is fine. The optional stop pins is useful for air gun mounting. Not needed for .22LR rifles. You will not be able to see iron sights with this mount and telescopic sight installed
Pros:
  • Fits .22LR rifles with tip-off grooves
Cons:
  • No printed instructions, no adjustable torque wrench
Best Used for:
  • .22LR rifles with "tip-off" grooves
