UTG Super Slim 20 Picatinny mount.

Written on Jun 25, 2025

Main reason for buying this is to provide metal reinforcement for plastic Picatinny rail molded into the Winchester Wildcat .22LR semi-auto rifle plastic receiver.

Main problem is no instruction were provided in the package. You have to contact the manufacturer for this.

Design seems good. You can see the plastic rear sight through the rectangular space in the UTG rail. Rectangular reinforcements in the rail lock into plastic Picatinny slots to prevent movement.

Best not to overtighten screws to prevent distorting plastic Picatinny rail. Use blue loctite on screws. Tighten just enough to stop any movement of aluminum rail if a telescopic sight is mounted. Stick with lighter weight and compact design scopes. Good idea is to spray plastic rail with Armor-All or similar plastic protectant. Let it soak in for 24 hrs, then wipe dry. Before installing UTG rail. Gives plastic extra protection from exposure to sunlight and other outdoor conditions. Keeps UTG rail from coming loose unexpectedly.

UTG rail is not bad for the price.

MTM Compact Handgun Mag case

Written on Oct 10, 2024

Very handy indoor storage case for multiple handgun magazines. Not for outdoor use in rain, snow, changing temperature conditions, sand, dust, or salt air exposure. Might need some kind of rust inhibitor for long term magazine storage.

Hogue Monogrip Rubber Ruger Blackhawk/Vaquero 83000

Written on Sep 17, 2024

This Monogrip will also fit the Ruger Super Wrangler .22LR/.22WMR convertible single action revolver. But there is a "catch" to installation. The grip frame of the Super Wrangler is made of zinc alloy. Which is too roughly finished to allow rubber grip and steel "stirrup" with pin to move smoothly and fit properly.
Grip frame needs to be lightly lubricated with paste wax FIRST. Before installing stirrup and rubber grip. I used Johnson's Paste Wax. But any carnauba wax should work. Use a toothpick to keep amounts of wax applied very thin. Lightly wax the sides of the grip frame, the bottom strap, and the front strap. The large pins on the bottom strap need some wax to ease assembly of rubber grip to grip frame. But no wax on the back strap. This needs to be kept dry.
Put on the stirrup and pin, and it will move smoothly on the waxed bottom strap. Then follow instructions on connecting the rubber grip to the grip frame. The grip will move smoothly onto the waxed sides and straps of the grip frame into position. When grip "stops" in its final position, hold firmly and line up the screw to the stirrup screw hole. Start screw into "stirrup" very gently at first. Make sure screw is engaging properly, not pointed crookedly, possibly damaging screw thread. Stirrup may need to be shifted slightly for proper position. If screw is going in straight and smoothly, tighten slowly and gently, until a slight "stop" is felt. See if grip is firmly positioned, not "wiggling". Then tighten sli

Ka-Bar Big Brother Fixed Blade Knife

Written on Sep 10, 2024

This knife is smaller than listed dimensions. Blade measures only 9 1/4 inch long from blade tip to hilt. Blade seems thin. Only 1/8 of inch thick near hilt. Knife seems very light for its size. Handle is very thin. Hard to get a firm grip, Kraton handle keeps spinning around.

This seems like a light duty utility knife. Not a tactical knife. Not enough blade thickness and weight for a knife fight. OK for light duty cutting and sawing.

Browning Wihongi knife

Written on Aug 19, 2024

Knife actual length of blade to handle is only 9 inches. Length of blade including tang covered by handles is 13 inches. Deceptive description of knife length. Knife is made in China. Two blood grooves near handle are too tiny to be effective. Not large blood grooves found on genuine Kukri knives.

Overall length of knife is too short for field use. Blade looks like stainless steel. Blade looks reasonably thick. This knife is a decoration for a wall. Need a bigger knife for actual field use.

HIVIZ Handgun Replacement Lite Pipe Set

Written on Apr 09, 2024

A very handy replacement light pipe replacement set. You can replace light pipes that get damaged in field use. Drops of handgun on hard ground, hitting against field obstructions like tree branches, rock formations, and metal objects are just a few. Exposure to bad weather and salt water exposure in coastal areas can also cause damage to light pipes.
This kit makes light pipe replacement very easy.
