Sizing - Vertx Men's Phantom LT Pant, Black

In 2014, you'd think by now there'd be some universal standard for sizes. Every pants in my closet, from Levis, to dress pants, to khakis, to the 5.11s are a 34 waits and fit with room to spare. These are marked 34, but fit like a 32. Does it depend on country of manufacture?
Pros: Good overal design
Cons: Not true to size
