Biomaverick's Review of Vertx Delta Stretch Pants - Men's
I have experience with Vertx LT featherweight pants, before they were discontinued, and those were my all time favorite pants. They were rugged, incredibly breathable and light, and I had no problem wearing them into the winter. People complain about the general LT pant design, but I have no quarrel with it at all. Some say its too baggy in the seat, and I say, great! I have a butt the ladies appreciate. That being said, how does this covert tactical pant compare? Well, let me say off the bat, you will like them overall. The fabric stretch and durability is the best I've seen anywhere, the look does not scream I have a knife in my pocket, the leather accents are totally functional, and add to the prestige of these pants...even if they are made in china. With both LT pants I had, they were both made in Mexico from US fabrics, so take that into account if you are a Made in US kind of guy. But this pant is a more expensive pant than those two, so I am going to assume that Vertx outsourced the making of this line to a decent factory in China, at least. Going back to the stretch, as a person who is turning 21 and will conceal carry soon, I feel confident with these pants to appendix or hip carry, although time will tell for sure. But where is the space to carry extra mags??? And I'm not even talking 4 or more for the tacticool bro, what about just for the sole extra mag? Back pockets - nope, not deep enough. Cargo pockets - not present here on this model (I miss them so much) Front pockets - well, this is the only pocket option left, I suppose, and I wouldn't keep it in the overt front pockets either, but rather the covert zipper Vertx pockets, which I call the key pockets. Both are deep enough for 15-17 rounders with room to spare, but in my opinion, not ideal. I say the way to go is to holster you mags like your conceal carry. So for a pant that was designed for covert conceal carry, this is one pitfall. One other negative, if you don't have such a high crotch, you are going to feel a little snug with these pants, even with Vert's gusseted crotch; the zipper is also reflective of this high crotch dilemma. But hey, we're guys here, we cant let every little thing bother us, and so let me get back to the pros. Belt loops are the greatest: large loops for your even your thickest seat-belt belts, and with the extra security of the leather Vertx loop, I would feel confident to hang as much weight on any belt I put on these pants. I now start putting things like my 6.5 inch phone in my back pockets because the stretchy fabric makes it less noticeable that its there. The knife pocket will fit the very large Leatherman Surge, again thanks to its elasticity, and I find that I forget the monster is even there sometimes. I have jogged in these, and I think although the right underwear makes most of the difference, I will say that the low crotch does make it uncomfortable to do. Fits true to size, lower legs are not as slim as you may think, and I honesty believe that to the outsider, no-one would suspect I carry something for personal defense. More suitable to wear into the winter, but be prepared to see the occasional sweat spots in the summer. Another great line from Vertx. I don't know how ripstop these pants are, but gosh, this elasticity is well worth any sacrifice in durability. Btw, I've kick-boxed in these pants with ease, so i believe you wont have any trouble with shooting in different positions, although I will let other people comment on that.
