I recently purchased a Vexilar F-18 Flasher (fish-finder) for ice-fishing. When I discovered I could purchase a High-Speed Transducer for my boat, I was impressed, to say the least. The price was fair @ Optics Planet and the installation was easier than I expected. I had to plan the route to run the transducer cord, looking out for obstructions and electronic items that might interfere with signal, but overall found it quite easy to install. I attached the transducer to my left log (on my recently purchase pontoon boat), ran under & forward and across the boat deck and then upward into the helm and towards the top/under the upper dash, where I mounted the F-18 controller bracket and power wires.
The kit contains everything you need to mount the Vexilar 19-degree Hi-Speed Transducer Summer Kit. Just meticulously plan your route of attack before drilling any holes and you'll be fine. I powered it into an existing 12V power strip inside my helm, attached the ground wire and it was ready to go. These things are the 'Cat's meow'. I tested it in my shop by waiving my foot back and forth under the transducer, while my wife was sitting in the captain's chair watching the signal and operating F-18 flasher. Got a good response/idea it was working, as it should. Now the big test... When we took it to the lake, it performed exceptionally, which totally convinced us we had made the right purchase.
