I have both colors green and red.
It took me less than 1 minute to install both.
No time getting zero and be one with the shields.
I am thinking about buying the shield 45 and use the Viridian lasers.
No issues with the holster’s ECR.
Highly Recommend....

Polymer set fits well and performance is well worth the kit! Once sighted, it is part of the pistol as one! I don't beat it up but carrying is good and on target! Battery life is good and no issues with anything especially the holster. I got it to be a back up to my other carry piece, but have found it more comfortable to have. I've been choosing it over my Glock to have on my side. This kit will serve your S&W Shield to be Awesome!

It seems to be of good quality, well packed, and installed easily on my Performance Center Shield 9 MM. It came with batteries and the allen key needed to adjust windage and elevation on the laser. I shot a few hundred rounds and the setting held. The green laser shows at 75' on a cloudless day. It may go further, 75' was the depth of the range I was at.

The SKU I picked came with a Kydex holster. There is a small magnet in the holster. When the gun is next to the magnet (holstered), the laser turns off. when you draw it out (away from the magnet), the laser activates. You may be able to retrofit a holster if you can affix a magnet where the laser rests.

This was my first laser and I found some negatives after using it.
The button on the side to change modes is hard to use. You cannot change modes while holding the gun. However you have it setup is how it will run when you need to grab it and be ready for action.

With the laster being on all the time, you telegraph your movement. If your searching your house in the dark, intruders will have advance notice of your approach down a hall or from another room.

For use at night, you really need a light to identify your target and ensure its not a family member up and about.

If the price works for you and these negatives are not a concern, then it's a good choice.

I found the installation of the laser sight to be simple and quick. Adjustment of the laser was easily accomplished with the enclosed tools. I feel the green laser is easier to see than red laser Acquiring the target was quick. I enjoy the instant on and auto off when holstered. I prefer a holster that has leather shielding the whole gun against my body.

This laser DOES FIT THE SHIELD, I have it on mine. It works great and the instant on is a very good feature. My chief complaint is the battery life. If you don’t turn it off, the battery will discharge, even when in the included holster. I actually stopped changing the battery and it’s mounted but useless because I was having to change battery every two weeks. They are not cheap.

Very good addition to my shield. The green laser is visible even in the day time. If the sun is directly overhead the distance is limited but still very visible at 30 yards. Item shipped was exactly what I ordered. This why I purchase from Optic Planet.

Hi, I received my Viridian green laser but it was defective. The Viridian would not shut off or strobe light would not activate, look like the button was pushed in and was very difficult to press, even when pushed with difficulty the laser would not turn off and strobe function would not work. I hope the replacement works a lot better because , I swayed back and forth for a while about which handgun laser to get and really like the features and the range of the laser, that helped make my decision but was totally not happy when I finally received it. I just couldn't wait to get it but if there is a problem again then I will go with the other laser but I hope it will work.

Received the Viridian 5 Reactor Green Laser Sight and installed it on my S&W Shield 40. I was able to sight it in using the iron sights but haven't been to the range yet. Everything was straight forward. This unit appears to be a quality piece. Time will tell how reliable it will be.

The laser came with an OWB "ECR" holster which has an option to turn on automatically when the weapon is drawn. This, for me and most users, will be a necessity as the small power button is on the right side and would be difficult to activate under stress.

Just recently installed the Viridian Reactor 5 Green Laser on my 9MM Shield to replace a red laser. Very impressed with the brightness of the laser and the ability for it to be set to activation when drawn from holster.

Bought this for my shield 40. Laser very bright, comes with extra battery. Bought to use as bedside gun and carry gun. Problem is that to turn on laser you need to use a pencil or pen or some such object as my finger or fingernail won't do it which makes its use as a bedside gun laser useless. That said it works very well as a carry gun with the supplied holster. Turn the laser on and holster it, the laser turns off and comes on when you draw it. Just have to rig something so it can be holster on the night stand.
