This tool is poorly machined & I had to spend an hour with a file to get it to fit the factory barrel nut properly. I would hope Optics Planet takes it out of their inventory due to an extremely poor fir & machining.
Pros:
- None - it is not usable
- none, poorly machined and does not fit
Cons:
- poorly machined and does not fit properly
Best Used for:
- an expensive paper weight

The nubs on the tool were to big to interlock with the barrel nut, had to file them down to fit into the notches. Once it was altered, it worked as it should, but considering it was made for a specific task, it should've functioned out of the box!

The Id of the tool is about .010" too small to fit over the flash hider. (So I will need to open it up. 7/8 should do.)
I need to take the flash hider off so a suppressor can be used. I need to take the hand guard off so I can clamp on the barrel to remove the flash hider.

I have a S&W M&P 15-22 with a quad rail, and a S&W M&P 15-22 Sport with an M-Loc handguard. I was changing the handguards on both of them to free float handguards. I tried to use this Barrel Nut Wrench but the teeth were 2 large to fit in the slots of the barrel nut. I had to do quite a bit of filing (fortunately this is aluminum so it filed easily) to get them to fit in the slots so I could remove the barrel nuts. This is not the kind of quality I expect from Optics Planet. I shouldn't have to modify a tool I bought just to get it to do what it is designed to do.
Cons:
- I had to modify this to get it to do what it was designed to do.

Great price, Well made, black anodized aluminum design to fit securely to the barrel nut. Use with a 1-inch open-ended wrench. Will last the lifetime of your S&W 15-22. Would definitely recommend or buy one for a friend.

This wrench did its job and was ALOT less than the tacticool version. I would buy this wrench especially if you just are gonna be working on 1 or S&W M&P 15-22s. The wrench is well made and fit the barrel nut on both my rifles perfectly.

The wrench that I received had the wrong dimensions for the square pegs at the end of the wrench. They were too large for the barrel nut so I could not even use the product. I am attempting to send the defective wrench back for one that actually fits the barrel nut.

I was having trouble with my ejector hanging up on the bolt of my 15-22 pistol. Not allowing the bolt to go all the way into battery. This was giving me light primer strikes. So I removed the ejector, and polished the edges that rub on the bolt. If you need to adjust or replace the ejector, (not extractor), on your M&P 15-22, this is a must have tool. It is well made, and easy to use.
Best Used for:
- Removing the barrel on M&P15-22
