The small doesn't fit plates - Vism Expert Plate Carrier Vest

I bought the small because it's supposed to be one of the few carriers that fit an 8x10 plate. But, the carrier had about 2" of extra room on the top that let the plate flop around like bulletproof fish. I tried putting in some 10x12 plates hoping I could get some use out of the carrier but it was too narrow to fit those plates in. So it didn't properly hold any type of plate which is it's one job. It's pretty comfortable so would probably work for airsoft or paintball but what I need or wanted to buy.
