MICHAEL's Review of Vism Soft Gun Case, 43-52in
Hi, I received my gun cases, order # XXXXXXXX.
I just want to let you know that the cases are advertised as 52" long. Mine just barely measure 50 inches inside. When loaded with a rifle and ammo in the pockets, when I hang it vertically, the outside dimension stretches to 51 inches (better). If somebody really needs the full 52" they may want to hang the case loaded with weight, it may just stretch it out. Fortunately My longest rifle with scope fits inside with about 1 inch to spare. Basic varmint rifle, short action, with a 26" bbl and a 2.6" muzzle brake. Remarkably, I have another 300 win mag with a long action and 26" bbl and a JP tank brake and that just fits also. Plus a number of other rifles that are just an inch or 2 shorter. That was my goal; that is why I wanted such a long case. I'm lucky. another customer may find the case is too short, like with a custom gun and 27 or 28" bbl or a 338 Lapua, etc. You will want to be sure of your OAL.
Also, it seems that the handle is set too far back. The center of gravity is far forward, though using the shoulder strap seems to alleviate that. It may be different when the 5 pockets are loaded with ammo. I'd rather have fewer and larger pockets. AR mag pockets are kind of standard, but I don't think most ARs will need a 52" case! This case may work great for the new long range precision rifles in 6.5 creedmore, etc. You may want to let the manufacturer know my findings and opinions. I have photos.
All that being said, it is nearly impossible to find a 50 or 52" case for a scoped rifle, at least for less than 50 or 60 dollars. The padding and zipper are excellent. The pockets are good or excellent depending on your needs. 30 and 40 round AR mags fit well with no problem. AR10 mags should fit. I don't know about 338 Lapua mags. Some boxes of ammo fit and some do not, depending on the cartridge and the manufacturers packaging. You can compensate for this by using compact plastic cartridge holders or just stick your ammo in zip lock bags and put them in the pockets. Velcro (hook & loop) can be annoying (effort to open and noisy - if those are issues for you), but velcro is secure for sure, again, for the price I can let that slide! Some gun socks are $10 -$15. This is a great deal but with some annoyances, I think the center of gravity of the stitched handle location is the biggest issue. Unless you will be carrying the gun in the case for a great distance.... But to and from your vehicle is not too big a deal. I often will carry two cases in each hand; that would be a problem; it works, but is annoying and awkward and puts undue stress on the stiching of the handle. NOTE: putting ammo in the 5 pockets definitely decreases the off center effect, I tried with 20 round boxes of 243 with 58 gr bullets. 30 round mags of 223 might be a bit heavier, or not, didn't take this THAT far; even a couple ounces more weight would not "Balance" the bag.
That being said, I would definitely buy it again. Again, I would let the manufacturer know so they can improve the design; it can be awesome. Respectfully, Mike Cantor - "Precision Shooting & Hunting" e-magazine editor and product evaluation specialist.

Pros:
- Price features
- Padding is thick to reasonably protect the rifle and scope, as much as should be expected from a soft case.
Cons:
- Design flaws, handle location. Maybe 1 larger pocket in addition to magazine pockets. Rather have 4 larger pockets than the 5 smaller pockets
Best Used for:
- Varmint and tactical rifles with large scopes, to and from the range and hunting locations
Would Recommend:
Yes
