Kyle Propes's Review of Vism Upper Receiver Block For Ar-15
So far so good. I used this to build my first upper. Torque specs pertaining to the barrel nut seem to be a hot topic. So far I've had no issues with applying more than 35lbs of torque to a barrel nut or anything else for that matter. I typically torque to the manufacturers recommendation. I have parts in route for a second build for a friend. I will say, Ballistic Advantage has a solid YouTube channel that shows tips and tricks for assembly. It is wise to do your research prior to installing barrels & torqueing anything to spec. Also ensure you have the actual block torqued properly. The hex screws on the bottom of the block are easy to forget about. Always make sure they are tightened properly.
The only con: I believe it would be relatively easy to incorporate a barrel torque bit on the front of the block to relieve the upper receiver from some of the tension. That said, I find that tightening and backing of the barrel nut three to 4 times typically has the desired outcome for torque specs and rail/barrel alignment.
Pros:
easy to use
Affordable
Cons:
lack of barrel extension torque tool
Best Used for:
Maintenance
upper builds
