Sometimes it’s just better to perfect the wheel instead of reinventing it. These are classic, porro prism, field glasses (no rubber armoring or water-proofing) that benefit from modern optical coatings, light weight construction and superb Japanese quality control. They provide a wide, flat field of view with excellent light through-put while being up to 40% lighter than other Japanese standard bearers. The down-side is that these binoculars are not designed for marine or military field use (so try not to let them go bouncing around the floor of your Humvee or slouch through your bilge).

If you can live with those two limitations, I heartily recommend the Vixen Optics 7x50 ZCF Geoma binoculars.
