Most Helpful Positive Review Minus a star for poor installation “instructions”.
The Ruger Mark series is commonly brought to gun shops in a bag full of parts. It’s a great .22; it’s just quirky to reassemble. That fact alone should have warranted better installation instructions. This competition kit did wonders for my Mark III 22/45, but the “instructions” was just a video link that wasn’t specific to the 22/45. The Volquartsen video had poor angles, poor lighting, and lacked close-up shots. There was no mention of the 22/45, which has a few different parts & procedures. Failure to reset

I installed on a (1980s) MKII 512 and had issues with trigger reset even with trigger screws backed out all the way, and reusing factory trigger spring and plunger still had to manually move trigger forward to reset . Reinstalled factory parts and pistol ran perfectly.

Completely transformed the gun in the best way possible

The completion kit was easy to install. The trigger is now the best trigger I have out of all of my firearms. Better primer strikes and better extractions. I highly recommend the kit for the Ruger mark series!

Great Price on the Volquartsen comp kit.

Volquartsen products are always good and this competition kit is no different. Everything had perfect fit and finish and was easy to install in my Mark II 22/45 resulting in a drastically improved trigger pull and overall functionality. Also Optics Planet had the best price by far I could find on the internet and shipping was also quick.

Installed this in a MK-II 22/45, my only regret about buying this kit is that I wish I had bought it years ago. Great improvement in your Ruger. If you want a better trigger get this kit.

Missing Parts

The kit was missing the disconnector bar. The package was sealed so it was not a reused return item. Voquartsen help desk shipped one out quickly enough. Otherwise, it is a great upgrade to the old Mark II.

Trigger upgrade

I bought this to replace the stock trigger in my Mk III. Save yourself some time and have a pro install it. These Germans know what they are doing unlike myself. Two and a half pound trigger pull is nice for competitive shooting or precision shooting. I like the over travel and take up adjustment. But there are just so many parts and then trying to find a good YouTube video that shows what goes where is another challenge.

Volquartsen Mark II/III Competition Kit

The kit was complete as advertised. Installation was straight forward after watching videos on how to install. one issue was not covered by tags on parts or videos that Volquartsen should have addressed in this kit was which allen screw was to be used for trigger over travel. (my Mark IV kit included a note as to which model, std or 22/45, uses what length setscrew that I had installed a week before.)

The free twoday air shipping was nice but where I live it still took three days, same as normal shipping.

The kit was a big improvement over stock trigger.

  • Improves the trigger pull and feel.
Cons:
  • Could use just a bit more data on part selection between models
