Rob's Review of Voodoo Tactical Deluxe Padded Weapons Case

The material of this bag is top notch. I can tell it will hold up to a bit of abuse. One of the main reasons I got this bag is because it has dedicated pockets for up to 12 AR style magazines. It also has dedicated pockets for up to 12 pistol magazines and 2 full sized pistols. I had very high hopes for this bag, and overall I think it is a good bag with some short comings. The pockets for the AR mags are extremely tight. The middle mag pockets are much more easier to get mags into than the two pockets surrounding them. In order to fit 2 mags per pocket, I had to squeeze the second mag into the pocket underneath the first mag vs one directly on top of the other. Now the fun part. In order to completely zip the AR mag pockets closed, I had to turn each mag in a specific direction and I could only get one to zip completely closed. The other has about 1/4 inch gap, I don’t want to force it closed for fear of damaging the zipper. The pistol mag pockets were less tricky. I was able to fit two mags in each pocket, but I did have to put one upside down in each pocket for a proper fit and the pocket zipped closed with no problem. The pistol pockets may be a tad tricky. When you have all 12 AR mags in the pockets, the pistol pockets are going to be a snug fit. With 2 pistols and 12 pistol mags and 12 AR mags, the space in the empty pocket is very snug. You might be able to squeeze in a mag loader and some cleaning cloths and smaller cleaning tools. The rifle storage section is padded with a nice divider and has sturdy Velcro straps. Hopefully with time the bag will break in and loosen up. I was hoping this would be more of a one and done range bag, and with either less mags or putting items into the rifle storage along with the rifles it could be that, otherwise you will likely need another small bag for a few more items. Overall, if you don’t plan on fully loading up this bag, that will probably address its shortcomings. It is kinda like yeah the bag can hold everything as advertised but not very well and with constraints on the extra space you should have available. I do think for what I got and the functionality the bag is overpriced in comparison to the competition.
Pros:
  • quality material

  • pistol pouches very snug when AR mag pockets are fully loaded
  • Came with cheap and flimsy locks
Best Used for:
