great sub-400 yard optic
I bought this for a .270 hunting rifle. A 3-9x40 fits excellent for this caliber and for hunting. I find the glass clear with no edge hazing. I really like the dead-hold bdc 2a iluminated reticle. The vertical hash marks line up closely for 100 to 500 yard shots, making holdovers easy. Feeling the click adjustments is a bit faint, but they are defined; but like I said, holdovers are easy with this reticle. This works great for me, my use, and my .270 win.
almost perfect for hunting
I'm very happy with this scope. Relative to what it was very specifically designed for, it's really good. It's not designed for someobe that wants to dial turents. It's a great hunting scope. Good edge to edge clarity. I think it gathers light very good. Mine has the dead-hold reticle, but I zeroed at 200, not 100. Running my dope that changed the yards on the hash marks and I made a dope card for the 1.5, 4.5 and 7.5 marks. This takes me out much farther than I'd ever hunt. The windage hash marks are more useful to me and remain the main reason I bought this great scope. I'm very happy with it.

Nice Scope!
I wouldn't call 3 X 9 LP necessarily but for the money, this is a great price point for a basic scope with this clarity. I was just looking for a piece of glass to put on a 300 BLk to plink around at 100 YDS or so and this will do nicely.

Best 3x9x40 money can buy
These illuminated red center dot from Vortex are a game changer. You forget the crosshairs and use the dot. Better for shot reference and more consistent points of impact. Definitely will keep buying these in different power scopes and sizes. Worth every penny!!!

Red death dot
These Vortex scopes with the red illuminated dots are really great. You forget the crosshairs in the scope and the dot is the place that will impact after sighted in. It's perfect having that pinpointing ability. It's a red death dot when hunting white tails

Perfect on a Bergara .22LR bolt
For the price this optic is excellent. It is perfect for a .22LR for plinking and pest control. I usually spend $500-700 on scopes but wanted something a bit more budget for a rimfire. This scope is well designed and the glass is very good - not Leupold VX-3 good but really only matters the last few minutes of season. The design is top notch - the turrets are finger adjust with numbers and can be zeroed so you can run it with caps on or capless if shooting longer range. Illumination is simple and the adjustments are exactly what you need and nothing more. Everything is smooth. Will defiantly be my go-to for future .22 optics
