Most Helpful Positive Review Best scope yet for night hunting under feeders

I bought this scope to correct the problem of being unable to see where my crosshairs intersect on a black hog using black reticle at night under a feeder light. I would have to "guesstimate" and too often I was unsure of my shot. Feeder is out 100 yards and has a Green Kill Light on it controlled b...

Most Helpful Negative Review Not Happy with this vortex

I bought this hog hunter scope for hunting. When I received it I put it on my .300win mag and on the fourth shot the guts came apart. So I sent it back and received another new hog hunter, put it on the .300 win mag again and shot it with no problems. Next I tried the illuminated reticle, on any set...

Was very impressed with the optics on this scope. For the price you’re getting a very good scope. The magnification works very well and the illuminated dot does not interfere when in low light.

Perfect for my needs

I have one of these on my 450 Bushmaster and bought this one to replace an old scope on my 50 beowulf. These are clear with great low light performance and have a lifetime warranty and a great price point. What more could you want?

Great scope at an incredible price.

I read every review available and watched every video I could find online about this optic. Some loved it and some hated it, so the reviews were not much help. I decided that with the Vortex name, warranty, and price it was worth a shot. I'm glad I made that decision. I love the scope! Cristal clear and bright. The adjustable objective that was a negative issue in some of the reviews works great for my needs. If you're looking for a great scope that's way under priced, this one's for you.

Pros:

Cristal clear, very bright, adjustable objective, and great price

Cons:

It's BIG, 56mm objective

Best Used for:

Low light hunting and target shooting

Nice Hunting Scope

by Pep, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on June 12, 2026

I like this scope. The glass is clear, it works well in low light, and the eyebox is pretty forgiving. It's a simple hunting reticle. Just crosshairs with an illuminated center dot. I wasn't planning on using this for anything much past 100 so I don't need any bdc or holdovers. There are 2 things that kept me from giving it 5 stars. I wish the parallax adjustment was on the side instead of on the front of the tube and I wish the illumination was more powerful. It really is only meant to be used in low light situations. Neither one of those is a deal breaker for me and at the current price it's a steal if you don't need a fancy reticle or bright illumination.

This scope is going on a Custom Built Muzzleloader. It will be able to reach out to 400 yards with no problem. The magnification is perfect along with the recital, the 56 mm Lense is perfect for low light conditions. I will be using this set up for hogs in Florida and deer/bear in New Hampshire.

Pros:

GREAT PRICE

Vortex Crossfire II Hog Hunter 3-12x56mm. 30mm Tube

Have not mounted this yet. But out of the box looks like what I needed. Bought this due to my age & poor eyesight, etc. Looking forward to getting it mounted and trying it out. Only disappointment was the length of time to get it, which the ad pointed out. Close to 3 months.

Deer hunting in WPA

Good quality optic without a crazy price tag! Add that lifetime warranty and it's a no-brainer.
