Cal L's Review of Vortex Crossfire II AO 4-12x40mm 1in Tube Second Focal Plane Rifle Scope

Sometimes you aren’t in the market for a thousand dollar plus scope. This scope is not that pricey, indeed it is quite affordable. Despite the fact that it won’t cost you a fortune, it does not sacrifice quality. In its price range, I have found its optical quality to be unequaled. The windage and elevation controls were both audible and tactile. I found the dials to be precise and repeatable, which surprised me for a scope in this price range. The magnification dial was smooth with enough resistance to not move inadvertently. The same can also be said of the objective parallax adjustment.

The coolest feature of this scope is the reticle. Out of my rifle it will put a .223 dead center at 100 yards using the center crosshair. Each subsequent hash mark works out perfectly to 100 yard increments with my rifle and load. The reticle does this in a streamlined, easy to see way that does not obstruct the sight picture.
Pros:
  • • Rugged
  • • Great optical quality
  • • Simple to use
  • • Amazing warranty
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • • Hunting
  • • Personal Defense
  • • Plinking / Target shooting

About Cal L from IL, United States

I was born and raised a city boy. Despite that, I started shooting at 5 years old. That started a lifelong passion. I have been working in the firearm industry since 2005. I decided that it’s true, do what you love, and never work a day in your life.
