I got this scope as a packaged deal. Came with a Thompson Center Compass and scope ring. The entire package was $225. I did expect much for an inexpensive scope but I was surprised. The glass is pretty clear, this is becoming more common with newer scopes. The clarity drops off at max magnification and the eye-box gets smaller, however it's easily up there with scopes in the $300-400. My Athlon Argos and my Nikon Monarch are a set above but at over 3 times the price.
This would be the perfect scope for rim-fire all the way up to a hunting rifle. I'm not sure if it would survive on an AR-10 or a Scar.
I lost my elevation turret cap. Vortex sent me two new ones, stickers and a free hat. Your gonna get taken care of if there is a problem.

I started with the Vortex 2-7 Rimfire and found I wanted more magnification and an adjustable objective. This scope fits the bill. I had an absolute blast plinking steel over a long weekend. Everyone that tried it was also impressed and assumed the scope is more expensive than it was (got mine on sale). We were all able to nail golf ball sized targets out to 50 yards on the first shot, and shooting steel was easy and too much fun. This on a 10/22 seems like peanut butter and jelly, it’s light and fits great on the little Ruger.

But the scope to put on a 1022 to shoot bull’s-eye targets at 50 feet. The adjustable parallax and focus and clarity are excellent. Well worth the money.

Great scope for the money, I like them well enough that I own three of them now. Never had an issue with any of them and one has been on the gun for two years.

Not a professional, don't play one on TV.
Just a hunter/plinker. Prefer FFP, but didn't want to pay the extra. Don't take shots over 300 yds so this is plenty for 25 06. Does have a bit of a tunnel at full zoom, but I don't expect perfection at this price point.
Would like an illuminated reticle, other optics offer at this price point, but the view is more clear with this. I have SFP optics on my PCP rifles and include the illuminated reticle, and are fine out to 100 yds. or so.
40mm is smaller than my usual 50mm but it allows enough light in for most situations. The older you get the more light the better and more magnification is a plus. My other hunting scope is a Vortex 4-16X50 on an old Model 70 300 Win Mag. I figured 12 was enough for the 300 yd max potential for a 25 06 projectile.

The Crossfire 4-12x40mm is a good scope in its price range. Good clarity but not as good as the Diamondbacks that I have. My biggest concern is the eye box, at 12 power it is small and very touchy. The scope was meant to be a hunting scope but it is best used as a 10 power and not 12 power to aviod the eyebox problem.
Pros:
- decent clarity for the price
Cons:
- small eyebox at full power

Optics Planet gave me a good deal on another nice Vortex scope. I have Crossfire II scopes on both my .22 rifles, and am pleased.
Did have to get a 40 MOA base for the 10/22, as it was close to being out of elevation. Nice to be able to adjust focus and parallax at 10 yards. Nice reticle, and dead hold marks are handy. Thanks Vortex and Optics Planet.

This is a nice scope for short/medium distance rifles. Good glass, fit & finish, and the adjustable optic lens make it a "best bang for the buck" choice for your sub-magnum guns.
