I have 2 of these on my competition guns. The glass is real nice and I like the top tray batter compartment. It’s nice they take 2032 batteries too and great warranty if I ever have to use it. It’s also nice they include screws for every mounting situation and a rail mount if you need it.

I bought the Vortex Defender XL to go on a pistol that had a Deltapoint adapter plate for . Green dot is excellent . Shake awake and auto shut off is a must . Large window is fantastic ( a little taller but not as wide as Holosun 507 Comp ) . Top install battery tray design is great and side brightness buttons are large and tactile . Comes with a variety of screws depending on the brand of pistol you are installing on . Also comes with a picatinny mount for use on a railed gun . Even comes with a Glock MOS plate and screws but I don’t know anyone who uses those . The deck height is about the same as a Leupold Deltapoint so you need tall iron sights if you want to cowitness at all . Front window sits a little forward compared to Deltapoint so be aware about how much room you have above ejection port , it varies depending on brand of pistol . Good price , cheaper than Leupold or Holosun . The only negative thing I can say is the adjustment tool it comes with is terrible but no big deal , I’ll use my Holosun tool .

Since switching my red dot to green, I am able to transition targets much easier and with fluidity. It is easier to catch the color of the green dot when focused on the target spot I am aiming at. The large window of the XL makes it easy to see how my dot is reacting during recoil. This is my second XL green dot for my backup competition gun.
