Most Helpful Positive Review Excellent Value and Features
These were a gift to myself; possibly an upgrade to an excellent pair of Eagle Optic Denali binoculars. The Denali's are roughly $50 less than these Vortex's and I watched/envied these for a year before Optics Planet gave me a break that halved this difference. Am I glad that I made the jump! I just compared these at night looking at stars, clouds, distant city lights, and the moon. These Diamondbacks are noticeably better in low light so either the glass and/or coatings are better. The very close focus (4.5 ft. vs 7 on the Denali's) and the really wide field of view (420 vs 408) make this an ...

The clarity is excellent, like other Vortex products. I have 3 Vortex rifle scopes, love them all, and decided to go this way for some Bino's as well - and just as satisfied! Easy to adjust, size good for mid-size. Plan to use them a lot hunting beginning next Fall!

Great Binoculars

by Hoss, from WI, United States Written on March 29, 2016
Ordered these optics for an upcoming elk hunt. Have been able to use them for spotting whitetail and turkey, and general sight-seeing. They give a large field-of-view and worked well for viewing at dusk. Construction seems solid. Easy to focus and smooth in adjustment. The sale price made them even more attractive.
Pros:
  • smooth focus
  • Low light use
  • rubber armor body
  • large field of view
  • well protected carry case
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Daily use backpack not to big not to small

Can't beet the price

by Brisol, from WA, United States Written on March 23, 2016
Love the wide field of view. Great performer for this price range. Felt heavier than claimed weight but haven't verified that yet. Much better product than I expected.
I like the wide field for woods work. Have been happy with low light performance also.

Great Glasses

by idighuntin, from OR, United States Written on February 20, 2016
Vortex did it again. Another great product at a great price. These are great glasses for every day hunting conditions. They have very good light transmission early in the morning and just before sunset. The clarity of the glass is great, just take the time to set the diopter correctly. There may be better quality glass available in other Brands as well as in Vortex's higher levels, but its all relevant. If you have glasses that will let you see and score an animal, why would you need glass that would let you see the ticks on his back? If I need that, I'm going to pull out my spotting scope.

Great for the money

by ccj, from TX, United States Written on January 11, 2016
Haven't used them much they were bought for my son and we mostly bow hunt. So for so good they r clear and easy to focus. Small enough to pack in back pack. They are better than most brands at a lot lower cost. I own vortex diamondback 10 by 42 these are very comparable to them just a little smaller and easier to use for bow hunting. I have a vortex scope and a vortex monocular very pleased with their products.

  • Hunting/recreation

Vortex diamond back 8x42

by None, from CA, United States Written on December 29, 2015
Good for the money. Used for 30 foot target viewing for air guns. At distance ok but not great.
Lens caps keep falling off (small problem), as most of the time I don't use them anyway. In the field
this will be a problem. Small complaint! Buy them at this price.

very good optics

by southhunter, from colchagua, Chile Written on December 1, 2015
I have used my binoculars for only 4 weeks and in just one hunt.
The optic is incredible clear, as in the best of them. I also use a Steiner and a MEOPTA, and is as good as they are.
My only doubt is if they are going to last. Time will say.

Binoculars. Diamondback 8x42

by Mabt, from FL, United States Written on March 3, 2015
These seem a nice binocular for the price. Good size, not heavy. Comfortable grip. Just starting birding and they seem a good choice for me. It was annoying that the comfort strap (harness style) that I bought for them did not fit as per the instructions. I had to jury rig it to attach as the nylon fitting would not fit through the slot. It was a Vortex harness so I assumed wrongly that it would fit these Vortx bins. I have already lost the lens caps. Probably as a result of the makeshift attaching of the harness. The binoculars them self however are living up to expectation.

Extremely clear view. Easy to focus. Binoculars now live in car for instant access. Hard case protects binoculars for damage in car. Excellent buy for the price. I use them exclusive for wildlife viewing and with/without glasses I have no issues in getting a clear view.
Pros:
  • Very solid and secure
  • Very well made
  • hard case
Cons:
  • None.
