Vortex DB HD 8x28's
Good Binoculars. Not great, not bad either.
For the money, you get what you paid for, followed by the best warranty in the industry.
Slight image aberration along edges as well as very slight color variance. Not real bright for low light conditions due to smaller diameter lenses as well as lens coating quality. For the price however, this would be a great choice as a backpack or back-up pair of binoculars.
These are a go to pair of bino's in the goose pits, or a carry pair when hiking/scouting that are light enough to carry around your neck all day. Haven't really put them through any t...

Best Portable Bino for Travel
Bought these for a gift for my wife for our 49th anniversary. I am planning a trip to the Canadian Rockies for our 50th anniversary. These binoculars will be great for the trip. Excellent clarity when viewing. Excellent field of view. Excellent construction. Job well done Vortex.

Great little bino for the money. If you need something for the car or travel this is it.

optic review
I really like they’re affordable price for such quality glass. The lens covers leave a little bit of a ding because on of them popped off fairly easy and fell in the leaves and disappeared. Otherwise great glass for the price.

Vortex Diamondback HD 8x28mm
With 18mm of eye relief, these binoculars are great for people who wear glasses. The 28mm objective lens captures more than enough light for daytime use. Optical clarity is on par with my Leupold BX-3 Mojave 10x42s at half the cost.

great value for $
The Vortex strike eagle 8x28 binoculars exceeded my expectations for quality and performance. The compact size is perfect for hunting and hiking where good optics are needed and bulk minimized. Optical clarity is excellent and holds true to vortex’s reputation; clear image to the edges of the lens.
Outer coating is good for tactile grip but not too much friction making it difficult to remove from the case, even with gloves. Focusing knob is easy to operate.
Haven’t tried these in wet or extreme cold yet, but I suspect they will do well.
The carrying case and neck strap was a nice surprise; good quality and very ergonomic.
Overall, I’m not sure I could find a better set of compact binocs near the price point of these.

Vortex Diamondback HD 8x28
Initial review out of box: Works well with glasses. Fits larger face. Bright image that’s clear to edge. Prefect size for hunting and casual birding - fits in jacket pocket but is still easy to hold steady. Focus wheel requires a large range of rotation when going from close to far - might bother some. These could easily become a five star, I just do not have enough field time with them yet.
Pros:
- Size
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- hunting

Not bad, but minor issues
I like them so far. They are clear and bright. My issues are that it is hard to get your eyes in the center to avoid the black edges from creeping into view. They are pretty hard to hold steady. That's probably due to me not being used to lighter weight yet, but it is worth noting. They will do what I need them to and I am happy for that.
Pros:
- clear optics
Cons:
- Shakey and hard to center

Bats of Costa Rica
There I was, on a frog trip to Costa Rica. Looking at frogs but thinking about bats, you know how that goes. And then, we came across them. 3 gorgeous lil batties, roosting under a hollow log in a jungle covered in amphibians. None of us dared to move. It was the presence of my Vortex Diamondback HD 8x28mm Roof Prism Binoculars that saved the day. Whipping out my precious far-gazers, I was able to ogle these bats from afar. Always the gracious ogler, I even let my colleagues use them. To their extreme accolades.
Pros:
- Can see bats without bothering 'em
Cons:
- Need to be on an amphibian trip
Best Used for:
- Spotting Chiropterans

Deringer of Binoculars
I have purchased several pair bins. I keep one set in my go to bags, have given them away as gifts and leave a pair with friends and guides in countries were these people can't get them. Great magnification, clarity, and sturdy.
Best Used for:
- observing all things nature
