Exactly what I've come to expect from vortex optics.
This is a great mid range scope especially for the price. I have mine on a PA-10 and use it to rattle steal easily at ranges out to 500 yards. That's the longest distance I can shoot that my local range The glass in the scope is very clear, windage and elevation clicks are Audible and felt. If you a...

A nice scope in some ways, but...
I wanted to like this scope, I really did. Vortex has such a good reputation for optics at this price point that I thought for sure this scope would be perfect for my needs. I guess not. The real deal breaker for me was the narrow field of view. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing when I uncapped t...

This is an inexpensive scope for the price. It has a decent reticle in it.

The Christian Gunsmith
Super clarity and overall slim profile make it perfect for keeping the optic closer to the bore. Even with a 1 inch tube, its overall length still draws plenty light thanks to the 40mm lens. I would not hesitate to buy this again.

Well worth the price.........
I purchased the Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-12x40 based on some professional reviews that I had read and the fact that it would fit the purpose. The "Sniper Central" review is what sold me. I have it mounted on a Mossberg MVP Patrol 5.56. I sighted it in at 50 yards and it worked very very well. From there I brought it out to 200 yards and was very impressed with the results. The glass is very good especially for the price. The Turrets seem to be spot on. I believe I have definitely made the right choice. Of course the Vortex warranty is also a great selling point. They back there products.

Very Small Field of View
Bought this scope mainly due to the length. I hoped that it would mount further to the rear on a Ruger No 1 due to the extra length between the turret and the front bell. Could not obtain necessary eye relief even with the addition of an extended scope ring. Ruger No 1 rifles with quarter rib are notorious for problems with scope mounting due to the mounting points being too far forward to allow the scope to slide rearward in the rings far enough to achieve a full sight picture without having to crawl the stock. None of this is the fault of the scope. What was surprising is the the extremely narrow field of view with this scope. I have several Vortex Diamondback 4x12 scopes (not the tactical model)with the 1” tube and 40 mm objective. I expected the same approximate field of view with the tactical model. Rested on sand bags side by side the difference in field of view is dramatic. The tactical model almost looks like you are looking through the wrong end of the scope! At 60 yards there is approximately three feet less field of view with the tactical model scope at twelve power. I have never owned a “tactical” model rifle scope before so if this is normal I apologize for the negative review. For my use in the field this is not practical and I returned the scope in favor of the standard model.
Pros:
- Beautiful scope, typical bright and clear Vortex optics
- Beautiful scope, typical bright and clear Vortex optics, best reticle for ranging.
Cons:
- Extremely narrow field of view
Best Used for:
- Maybe target shooting
- Maybe target shooting at long range

Seems to be a good value
Great price for what appears to be a good scope. Have only used it twice but it has stood up to 300 WSM so far. This scope does not have parallax adjustment and the absence made me realize how much I like parallax adjustment. I won't get this scope again for that reason. I'm happy with it otherwise.
Pros:
- GREAT PRICE
Cons:
- No parallax adjustment
Best Used for:
- hunting

Pretty good so far
Had no issues mounting it. The turrets are fairly snappy and it sighted in very quickly. I haven't taken it past 100 yet so i can't speak for long-range shooters but I'm satisfied so far.

Highly Recommend
My second Vortex Diamondback. Both 4x12 with 40mm objective.. One for my CZ 457 and the other for a sporterized Mauser in 7mm. Great accuracy and ease of use. Sighting is done in a matter of minutes with clearly marked and defined turrets. If you are looking for a reasonably priced, accurate, and reliable scope, the Vortex Diamondback is the way to go.
Pros:
- Accuracy, reliability, and ease of use.
Cons:
- None for me

Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 Tactical
Decent short to mid range scope with good glass. Magnification dial is pretty stiff, hopefully it loosens up after a while.
