Hero's Review of Vortex Golden Eagle 15-60x52mm 30mm Tube Second Focal Plane Rifle Scope
This is a lot of scope for the money!
I have own a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56, Nightforce NXS 12-42x56, Nightforce Benchrest 12-42x56, and a Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x50, and the Vortex Golden Eagle is as good or better than all of them. I have shot one 1000 yard competition with it so far and I honestly believe it is clearer and brighter than the Nightforce I have been using.
The aprature stop ring gives you a little better focus at 1000 yards, but does slightly darken things up. The windage and elevation turrets turn smooth but are harder to turn than a Nightforce and doesn't have as defined of 'clicks' as a Nightforce. Maybe they are still just a little stiff from being new. All other functions on this scope are Flawless!
My scope has the ECR-1 reticle, and I couldn't ask for anything better. The center dot is plenty small enough for precision benchrest shooting. I can't wait to try this scope in a 600 yard match. I believe the 60x will really shine at this range. I've always wanted a little extra magnification than 42x at 600 yards.
I will definitely be buying another one of these. Would have loved to have bought my first one through OpticsPlanet, but I simply couldn't wait. These guys will definitely be getting more of my business soon.
