Works fine in clear weather - Vortex Impact 850 6x20mm Laser Rangefinder
jc's Review of Vortex Impact 850 6x20mm Laser Rangefinder
This is the second range findr I have used. My first was a Nikon Prostaff 3 which I bought in 2012 at Bass Pro Shops when visiting US.
The biggest difference with between the Vortex and the Nikon (that I lost in the woods unfortunately) is when the weather is not crisp and clear. The Vortex has big problems to measure when there is only slightly foggy weather. This I did never experience with the Nikon. Either the laser or the sensor is not as powerful in the Vortex as it was in the Nikon unit? Otherwise, when the weather is fine the measurements with the Vortex give perfectly correct values. The Vortex is also a bit slower in responding in the measurements compared with how the Nikon worked. I would choose the Nikon even if Nikon does not have the life-time warranty asVortex has.
