Most Helpful Positive Review Unbeatable for the money!
My wife purchased this rangefinder for me as a birthday gift. The glass is crystal clear, menu is easy to navigate and the accuracy is spot on. One thing I really like is the ability to focus the eyepiece. Combine these great features with Vortex quality and warranty and this is a no-brainer! One ma...

Most Helpful Negative Review Works fine in clear weather
This is the second range findr I have used. My first was a Nikon Prostaff 3 which I bought in 2012 at Bass Pro Shops when visiting US. The biggest difference with between the Vortex and the Nikon (that I lost in the woods unfortunately) is when the weather is not crisp and clear. The Vortex has bi...

Vortex impact rangefinder

by Paul, from VA, United States Written on February 6, 2020
It functioned well out of the box. Moderate use resulted in a broken lens piece. A quick call to customer service at Optics Planet and my issues were promptly addressed. RMA was provided. The item was replaced and we are back in business. Highly recommend Vortex products and Optics Planet.

Solid range finder

by Finder of ranges, from IA, United States Written on December 18, 2019
Excellent range finder for the price. Quick and accurate measurements. Item is comfortable to hold and looks attractive. Only beef is I wish lanyard hole was a bit bigger to fit other options. You get nothing but the best from names like Vortex and Opticsplanet.
Pros:
  • Price
  • accuracy
Cons:
  • Small lanyard hole
Best Used for:
  • hunting

Best Bargain out there.

by RU4Au, from ID, United States Written on October 6, 2019
You want Red LEDs? Ballistic calculators with stored data, temp, barometric pressure, altitude automatic compensation? Open your wallet and get a Gunwerks BR2. I have one and it's great.
What I wanted and needed was something much smaller... shirt pocket sized. This one really can't be beat.
It is accurate and repeatable. It has two buttons which do what you would expect them to do. We get a Line of Sight (LOS) mode or Horizontal Component Distance mode (HCD), and the scan mode will work within either of them. The display is very clear and crisp and it's intuitive.
Then there's the warranty. They will fix or replace it. Period. NO time limitation listed.
Performance- On a crisp Idaho morning I just ranged fir trees out to 800 yards, which is better than I had ever expected. My hope was for ranging furry things out to around 500 which is easily exceeded this morning on horses and cows.
I'm surprised at the whining about the black readout. It works great, down to light levels where you probably shouldn't be shooting. If you really want a colored readout YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO SPEND MORE. You want 2000 yard capability? Read the previous sentence again. If you're a PRC shooter you shouldn't be looking here anyways.
There are cheaper units out there with ratings that strain the truth but when it fails you will just have to trash it and get something else. This one will do what it was made to do for your lifetime. Pay the extra, if any, for this warranty.
Pros:
  • Price
  • Very small and light weight
  • Great display
  • Waranty
  • Repeatable precision
Cons:
  • NONE !
Best Used for:
  • Everything out to 6-700 yards

Best on the market

by Tonto, from MT, United States Written on September 11, 2019
If someone is shooting over 500 yards - they need a new sport or learn to hunt. Works great for open range shooting. I have an injury that precludes me from judging distance like I used to. Reason I bought it. Waited a long time for it to come on sale. Thanks everyone.
Best Used for:
  • Open, flatlands shooting.

Great for the money

by Dustin Collier, from TN, United States Written on September 3, 2019
Seems well built and seems like it will last a long time imo. Checked it against a few known distances and seemed to be right on. I haven't used this in low light conditions so we will have to see how that is. I'm overall very pleased

too much lag time

by GK, from CA, United States Written on June 27, 2019
You could have a cup of coffee in the time it takes for the distances to pop up. Was looking to replace my mega price point Bushnell with this. Instead I use this for golf where time is no issue. Save for a couple more months and go with the Leopold RX-1600i TBR/w. Way more features for not a huge jump in price.

Great product.

by Mcoxford, from PA, United States Written on September 27, 2018
I had been searching for this product and comparing for a while now. Found it on OpticsPlanet for a great price, and the product itself is great with a great warranty. Have not taken this out in the field yet to try, but did test it around the house and feels like a great rangefinder to me.
