Vortex Impact

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on May 7, 2010
I was shocked at the clarity of this scope. It was purchased as a light scope for my range bag to spot .30 cal holes at 100 yards at the range. I've been so impressed with this little spope its earned its place in my elk/mule deer spotting pack. Its light enough for the backcounty with all the power and clarity of a much more expensive scope. make sure to check the Vortex lifetime guarantee!!! No its not a Zeiss, but for $200.00 its more than a value. I highly recommend you check the optics in this scope before you spend double or more for a lesser product.
Pros: light weight with good glass

Good value spotter, poor tri-pod

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on May 6, 2010
Vortex spotting scope is a compact size and priced well for the magnification. Case included is flimsy and too small. Optics are clear, brightness is fair, and 75x max magnification can get you in really close, although clarity does suffer at the higher magnification levels. Major complaint is the with the included tri-pod... small size is nice but it is unstable with the weight of this scope, and attachment mechanisms are poor.

For a target range, shooting spotter this is a good value for the money. For finer, clearer close-up viewing you should look for a different scope.
Pros: Price, size
Cons: tripod, stability
