Expert Review

Love the tanodized finish!

by Matt S., Gear Expert from IL, United States Written on September 4, 2019
Put this on a 11.5 upper, love black/tan schemes.

The finish on this scope really pops and is a nice cherry on top of the upper.

Otherwise, same great strike eagle optic as my black finish model.

Clean, functional reticle. Capped turrets so once you are zero'd, just cover them up and be on your way.

Pretty decent eyebox and clarity for the price.

Very happy I went with this both for aesthetics and performance.
Most Helpful Positive Review Amazing clarity and value
I've been debating on getting the trijicon TR24 or the Leupold 113769 VX-R Patrol FireDot but both scopes are extremely expensive. I wanted an illuminated 1-6x and when I saw it on sale with the custom finish to match my FDE furniture I couldn't resist. BL - well made, leupold clarity without the c...

Most Helpful Negative Review Vortex opmod 1x6
The glass seemed clear enough. Since its a 30mm tube, it transmit a good amount of lights through the lenses. Since its the strike eagle line, it's Vortex's middle of the road line of glasses. For the price, it's very acceptable for the output these scope provide.

unfortunately, Reddit was right

by state, Verified Owner from WV, United States Written on September 2, 2025
I typically try to avoid the suggestions of the Reddit hive-mind. It’s weird, Reddit seems stuck on only a few products but it’s a big world.

This time I finally listened. I bought this guy on sale and holy cr*p am I impressed! My glass is stupid clear from 1 to 6 without any fisheye. The eye relief is further back than I was used to, so it’s taking some work training my brain to keep my head back further.

At any rate, you won’t be disappointed. I’m already looking at their 1-10 for my other rifle
Pros:
  • Holds zero
  • clear optics
  • Inexpensive but well built
  • Glass & turret adjustment
  • great resale value
Cons:
  • eye relief

Not actually FDE

by Jim, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on August 29, 2025
For those of you whose OCD also can't accept mismatched parts, dont get this. It's almost more green than FDE. Did not have a chance to evaluate scope itself.

Feels too good to be true.

by Wesley Williams, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on August 9, 2025
Admittedly, this is my first 1-6x24. Fired through a few other brands and I have to say, you cannot go wrong with Vortex. That being said, this OPMOD limited edition scope, not only sights extremely clear, but looks good doing it. My AR build was going to be blacked out, like the first weekend at a bar for a newly divorced husband. I just couldn't pass this one up. The illuminated reticle take some getting use to, but the different brightness levels for different natural lighting makes all the difference. 11 different settings to dial the illumination in for the optimum brightness. The only complaint I really have, which really isn't one because I understand why, is the variable zoom is pretty tight. If they could just figure out how to get the rotation to move a bit more freely while keeping a great seal for moisture, it would be an 11/10 optic. But great job Vortex/OpticsPlanet. Nailed this on

Not terrible, not great, maybe...meh...

by scrlck, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on August 5, 2025
Cons:
Fisheye effect viewing at all magnifications, 1x to 6x.
Very small eyebox at 1x, but 6x is incredibly tiny.
Eye relief is ok, but certainly not good.
Glass not clear all the way around the lens at any magnification.
Glass color distortions/prism affect on objects in view.

Pros:
Feels solid in the hand like it was built for frequent use.
Build quality on the outside seems good.

This is my first LPVO and I was expecting optics performance at least on par with other older similar priced scopes.

Every other scope listed below is superior to this one.
(years are approximate)
Redfield 3x9 Tracker 1990, 4x12 2005, 3x9 2015
Nikon Prostaff 3x9 2009
Simmons 3x9 2002

Seriously, what am I missing? Why all this hype for this Vortex SE LPVO?
None of my other scopes are illuminated nor go below 3x. So that is the one thing that the Vortex SE has going for it.

Good Looking Scope

Good looking, functional and appears to have a lot of good features. Have not had time to field test it yet, so just early observations. If it is anything like my other Vortex scopes, it will be great!

A finely-tuned optic for sure!

by Vortex Fanatic, Verified Owner from MA, United States Written on June 26, 2025
It was just delivered only an hour ago. I've been reading the manual and testing out in my back yard according to the instructions. The clarity is incredible! Reticle light adjustments are excellent! I'll have an excellent site picture at 200yds easily. Can't wait to mount it, and go to my club to try it out! I know that I'll be quite pleased with this purchase.

Vortex OPMOD Strike Eagle Limited Edition 1-6x24mm Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube, Second Focal Plane (SFP)

by Scoundrel68, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on May 31, 2025
It's a very competitive market for lvpo's and providers. Optics Planet and Vortex deliverd on this. They quality surpassed my expectations, the eye relief and eyebox are excellent. The etching of the sight marks are top quality and the the laminated red dot and halo are grate for an optic in this price range. Optics Planet had an unbeatable price and the delivery and tracking provided were excellent.
