I just got the scope but so far it looks good. I have three rifle scopes and they are fine.. I think the big reason for buying is prior experience with Vortex and their great warranty and also Optics Planet and the return police they have.
I don't have much to say about the scope yet but Optics Planet is first rate. Thanks

This is a great spotting scope, purchased it for my Elk hunt. It took only several minutes to get used to the adjustments for focus. I used it next to a friend that had a swarovski and even he thought in was as good or better optic. Caught it on sale of a very good price and shipping was spot on. Picked up the Vortex adapter for the I-Phone to video and take pictures of the Elk. Great unit. Suggestion - Buy a heavy duty tripod!
Pros:
- Clarity
- zoom
- sunshade built in
- Price compared to Top Name brands

Cant beat it! Totally amazed by the quality and clarity. No need for a Swarovski when you can have this at a more reasonable cost. The fine adjustment focus lets you dial in really fast so you dont have to be fiddling around with the knob. There isnt a bad thing to say about it. Top of the line spotter

I purchased the Razor HD spotting scope for range use. Nice field of view with a very bright image. My problem was that the eyepiece would not engage with the locking pin on the scope body. I sent it back to Optics Planet for a replacement which has not yet arrived. I am hoping that the replacement does not have the same issue.

Construction is solid
CONS:
scope has difficulty focusing with any debris in the air such as dust, smoke or plant matter.
unable to lock the zoom and or eye piece and or focus in one particular position to avoid it moving accidentally
coating chipped somehow and the scope has never been dropped
limited field of vision at full zoom (which I guess is to be expected)

My previous spotting scope is a Burris Landmark 20-60X80 . . . this Vortex HD is in another league entirely, as well it should be costing over 5 times as much. At lower powers the Vortex image is bright and crystal clear and this remains so through about 75% of it's magnification range. However, at 60 power, the image sharpness degrade somewhat, but is still useful. At full power and about 1/3 mile in clear conditions, the Vortex resolves detail that is a blur on the Burris. For spotting targets, the Burris is a waste of time beyond 100 yards while the Vortex is just fine.
Eye relief at lower powers is adequate for eyeglasses, though it's best to take them off. Overall a very nice scope.

Very impressed period, and for the price. Able to see bullet holes at 400 yards. Lived up to the other reviews I read online where it was compared to Zeiss and Swarovski scopes. PhoneSkope adapter works well too for digiscoping.

I used this spotting scope on a hunt in New Zealand for Himalayan Tahr. The guide had this scope, so I got to use it for 4 days and really enjoyed it. I liked it so well, that I bought one when I came back. I really like Vortex rifle scopes as they are some of the very best and much better than most of the very expensive scopes especially for long range shooting. The glass is just amazing with excellent consistency throughout the range of focus. The Razor HD spotting scope has the same high quality that their rifle scopes contain. The fine adjust knob works great and easy to use, along with handy being in front of the main zoom. It's nice that it comes with a carrying case/protective case as well. The removal eye piece allows you to change out eyepieces, just make sure you get it to "click" when putting it on, otherwise it will come off when you rotate the focus.
