Expert Review

Quite a handy tool to have.

by Cal L, Gear Expert from IL, United States Written on June 16, 2016
The first thing that stands out is the body of the rangefinder. Built ergonomically, here are no sharp edges and the whole unit has a rubberized coating. This provided for no noticeable fatigue, even during extended use. The buttons were easy to manipulate and well located. They provide positive feedback in the form of a click that can be both heard and felt. Using only the two buttons, it is easy to change the settings of the rangefinder to meet your needs. The display is concise, displaying the information that you want in an easy to use format. Both a carrying case and a pocket clip on the rangefinder itself are provided, so it is easy to travel with. An attachment point is located on the bottom of the unit should you desire to screw it to a walking stick or a tripod. This rangefinder also has a neat feature whereby it will measure the angle from you, of what you are ranging, as well as the distance. You can select to get this information in a raw format or to have the rangefinder use it to calculate the equivalent horizontal component distance, allowing you to quickly use your predetermined holdovers with no need for calculus. Distance readings are very quick and very easy to obtain. In use I was able to get readings out to around 1200 meters, but his was a limitation of the terrain around me and not of the unit.

The reticle is an LED system instead of the older LCD that other devices use. This has the strength of being useable in lower light conditions than older range...

Most Helpful Positive Review It's good to 500 yards
I searched all over the internet and could not find any reviews for the Vortex Ranger 1500 rangefinder. I was a little skeptical purchasing it, but reviews for the ranger 1000 were good, the product warranty was superb and the price was much lower than comparable products so I took a chance and I am glad I did. I began ranging everything I could see around my house as soon as the brown truck dropped off my package. The afternoon was very bright and the sun was approximately 35 degrees off the horizon directly behind a herd of cows. The furthest cow I could see was black and I was able to ran...

Great Range Finder

by Josh, from LA, United States Written on October 18, 2018
Huge upgrade in lenses quality and good mode functions. It is easy to hold and the case is useful. I also like the three settings for brightness of the display. Looking into direct sunlight needs the brightest setting while I the woods uses the most dim setting. Easy to use and I would recommend this product for anyone looking to find a quality range finder.

Works great

It works just like it supposed to, the continuous ranging feature is awesome. It has a lot of options but is very easy to setup in the menu. Optics planet was over $100 cheaper than anywhere else. Highly recommend.

Great Rangefinder

by Brad, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on August 19, 2018
This rangefinder does everything I ask of it. I sometimes use it as a poor mans spotting scope. I also plan to use it out on the golf course. I see myself getting many years of use out of it because it seems solidly built. It’s also a Vortex so that’s also a big plus.

Vortex Ranger 1500 RangeFinder

Great rangefinder. Light weight and compact. Quick read with 2 pushes of a button. I ranged a non reflective object at over 800 yards and I’m sure it will go further. Couldn’t be happier and the price was right too.

Vortex Ranger 1500

by Kemp, from GA, United States Written on April 5, 2018
I just recently purchased the Ranger 1500 and it works fantastic. The Leupold that I had been using and to be fair, it is 7 years old. The Ranger is sooooo much better and with the feature of constant ranging. You can do a sweep and get yardages from many different spots. This ranger would be awesome to use on the golf course to get you distance too.

Haven't got to use it too much yet but so far I am impressed. Ranged out past 1300 yards on the first try. Quality built. Fits good in my hand. Ranges in motion. I like that you can adjust brightness of the numbers for different light conditions.

High quality

by Big buck Killer Mahaney, from AZ, United States Written on December 25, 2017
Look no further. Buy this rangefinder. It says it will range to 1500 yards. If found that it will range to 1514 yards. At around the 1000 yard mark you will need a tripod or a steady rest so your ranges will be accurate. Battery life is great but recommend carrying a extra battery just to be sure. It is very easy on your hand. You can use the two buttons with one hand.
Pros:
  • easy to use
  • Accurate
  • good battery life
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Anything where you would need a rangefinder

Compact Rangefinder

by Zee, from OR, United States Written on December 18, 2017
A compact unit that is handy to carry. I own two Vortex rifle scopes and a pair of binoculars. The quality of this rangefinder appears to be on par with what I've come to expect from Vortex. Had an 800yrd model of a lessor brand and decided to move up in ranging distance and quality. Clear glass, armored, compact and easily operated. The scan feature is particularly handy when ranging moving targets. Looking forward to using this feature for varmint and elk hunting. A quality product at a reasonable price.

66 yrs young & still enjoy the Great outdoors.

by Joe, from CA, United States Written on November 21, 2017
On time delivery, arrived safely.Vortex impresses again. I started out with the viper binoculars and they are amazing. Super crisp looking down field and out into the distant hills. Then came the HD spotting scope. Awsome as well. Also scoped my Henry 22wmr with the bdc 3x9. Can't say anything negative about any of them. My last purchase was the ranger range finder 1500. This is one thing I should have picked up years ago. 6 power large easy to read measurments. I can now dial in footages in my hunting area and know the proper hold over. A plus is measuring around our poperty, fence lines etc. Vortex hasn't disappointed. Best of luck and do the research..

Great range finder, seems to be very accurate and very easy to use. I have used it at the range where I could verify the distances which is where the accuracy comes from. Could not be easier to use, basically just point and measure. Scanning feature is useful and very fast to acquire.
Pros:
  • Accurate and easy to use
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • hunting
