Very well made - Vortex Raptor 8.5x32mm Roof Prism Binoculars

I first bought a pair of Leupold Yosemite in 8x30. I compared the Raptors and Yosemite in store. The Yosemites seemed slightly brighter and more crisp inside the store so I bought them. After bringing them home I realized the build quality wasn't very good. The left eye cup was gritty and "clunky" and the right eye cup was so loose it would fall down during use, also the focus was gritty. So I returned them for the Raptors. MUCH happier with build quality. The eye cups are great, perfect adjustment and just the right amount of tension. Perfect focus dial. They are also a bit longer so you have more to grab and hold steady.
After using them outside, I don't think these are any less bright than the leupolds. These are very clear and I was surprised that the edges aren't too soft, almost a crisp view to the edge.
These are fantastic. The raingaurds are great and stay on even if hung upside down, the objective lens covers are great as well and don't fall off. The case is also very nice, compact and useful with a belt loop and carry strap with a front pocket. Vortex did a great job on these little poros
Definitely 5 stars. I had the Vortex Talons HD ($500) and I like these better. Much lighter and more handy. Poro prism is the way to go. Ill never buy expensive roof prisms anymore.
